5 leaving Kentucky!

77LegendFreshmen: John Wall, DeMarcus Cousins, Eric Bledsoe & Daniel Orton. Junior Forward Patrick Patterson.
Now what will UK and Calipari do? Is it worth recruiting these high profile guys? IMO, it may not be. Duke, MSU?

wildcats20There's already a thread about this.
-
77LegendSorry, didn't see it. My bad....
-
mallymal614When the last time a school had 5 players get drafted the same year? On paper Kentucky probably should have cruised to a National Title.
-
september63Duke graduates their players and they rarely move on to NBA stardom!! Ohio State recruits the one and gone players too, so I cant fault UK.
The system is flawed, for sure. What to do? -
77LegendShoulda, coulda, but..........That's the price college coaches pay now a days recruiting top players outta high school.
-
se-alumHas this ever happened before?
I still doubt Bledsoe and Orton's ability to make an impact anytime soon in the NBA. -
jordo212000Not totally shocking. I expected most, if not all of those guys to declare
-
77LegendSept63....I don't know if you took my post wrong but I was giving Duke and MSU credit for what they do with their players. Most are not Top Profile basketball players coming out of high school are they?
-
Laley23
yes they were. People get these thoughts in their head that just arent true.77Legend wrote: Sept63....I don't know if you took my post wrong but I was giving Duke and MSU credit for what they do with their players. Most are not Top Profile basketball players coming out of high school are they?
Off the top of my head:
5 Stars:
Dawkins (Duke)
Singler (Duke...NPOY)
Smith (Duke)
Zoubek (Duke)
Roe (MSU)
Morgan (MSU)
4 Stars:
Allen (MSU)
Summers (MSU)
Lucas (MSU)
Sherman (MSU)
Scheyer (Duke...may have been 5*)
Thomas (Duke)
Plumlee (Duke) -
77LegendLaley...I stand corrected, but one that you have wrong is Morgan according to Rivals, I just looked him up, he was a 4-Star.

And they knew Wall, Cousins, and Patterson would be gone after this year before the season began. I think it has to be considered an enormous disappointment of a season for them to not even reach the Final 4.mallymal614 wrote: When the last time a school had 5 players get drafted the same year? captain_obviousSo... what you are saying is that going to MSU and/or Duke will cost you a NBA Lottery Pick?
-
77Legend^^Yes, major disappointment with all of that talent, but part Calipari's fault too!

Azubuike24The Cats will probably bring in the #1 class again next year and start over again. I still expect them to contend next year, similar to what Kansas did the year after their national title. In 2 years, UK will be one of the title favorites as they are on all of the top, top players in 2011 and the 2010 class does not appear to be nearly as heavy on one and dones.
-
NateUNC has had 6+ years of 4 players drafted in the same year.
5 is astounding. -
thedynasty1998How quickly people forget the situation that Camipari walked into just a year ago. He and UK will be fine.
-
Laley23
You are right. The top 30 that year were 5* and he was 33. I KNOW he was a top 20 at one point during his SR year.77Legend wrote: Laley...I stand corrected, but one that you have wrong is Morgan according to Rivals, I just looked him up, he was a 4-Star.
But, people forget how good the players on these teams are because they arent the super frosh like Durant, Oden, Conley, Wall, etc. They forget that MOST freshman (outside the top 5 or so) take a year to adjust. But they are still elite talents. -

Good luck in the NIT next year John -
sportswizuhrdWriter from draftexpress.com posted on Twitter:
I bet he drops and returns to school. I think Bledsoe turns into a mid-late 1st rounder.Lotta talk in Portsmouth tonight about Daniel Orton and the fact that he apparently tore his ACL last year. Teams are concerned about that. -
Azubuike24Orton tore his ACL his senior year of high school. He missed nearly the entire year. He will almost certainly NOT be back, especially that he has left the state of Kentucky and after some of the comments made. Bledsoe is probably the only one with any chance to return, but even as a mid-1st, he would be sort of crazy to return.

centralbucksfanCan those people who KEEP talking about how Izzo, Coach K. and whomever else recruit "differently" please STFU now!? They recruit the same freaking players that everyone else does. And the above info just proves this.
I always get a kick out of that discussion, and its ignorant. How Izzo recruits 4yr players, guys who were 3,4 star players. Thats complete BS. These guys(coaches) are all after the best of the best. Some get them, some don't, but they are still after the 5 star players that are out there. -

Don't people remember how publicized the pursuit of John Wall was? They all knew he was a "one and done" player, but he was recruited hard by duke, UNC, and the eventual winner, UKCan those people who KEEP talking about how Izzo, Coach K. and whomever else recruit "differently" please STFU now!?
