A Living Legend: Dick Enberg Leaves the Game

  • reclegend22
After the 2010 NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament comes to an end, Dick Enberg will head out West. And that will be that. College basketball will have lost its greatest Tournament play-by-play man ever. Enberg, as he announced to the country at the half of the Duke-West Virginia game last night, will be taking over as full-time broadcaster of the San Diego Padres this spring, leaving his positions with both the NCAA and NFL.

I'm sad to see him go. The NCAAs will never be the same. He will be missed.

It was such a thrilling game, one of the most thrilling I've ever seen, but the monumental Arizona-Illinois game from March 2005 has become kind of sad to me as it was probably Enberg at his pinnacle. Can't believe that was five years ago.

    "OH MY!!!"

I always enjoyed listening to Enberg.

He is a great announcer. I wonder if CBS will try to get him to do some events if they are located close to San Diego the same way that Keith Jackson did some games in California after he retired.

I always enjoyed his work, especially calling NFL games with NBC in the early 90s.

I hope so. I've always liked Enberg and would definitely like to hear him covering events in the future on some basis.
