I thought the same about woman ref, but to make you scratch you head some more - she is a Women's college Div I official???

the time when bolyard got his 5th foul....he was not the one who committed the foul...it was miller. bolyard was 2 feet away!! that was'nt the woman who made that call. i watched the replay today...i could see thats what sam, jake, and sly were telling the ref when i was at the game saturday. the tape just confirmed it! The goofs on tv had no clue as to what was happening. awful officiating for a championship game.....is it just another thing chalked up to officials not working as crews?? btw it was awful commentary on the tv too!! embarrassing!! Isabella had the smartest comment before the game....he said the team that had the best offensive rebounding and free throw shooting game would win. Pretty much what happened!! but i guess you could say that about every bball game!!

^^Yeah you could really tell those guys fly by the seat of their pants.....a lot of general comments that could apply to pretty much any game.

Pawlowski was calling us the Red Raiders early on....good grief.

i wasn't expecting miracles, but it was bad.

Congratulations Riders on a tremendous season.

I watched the game on STO, the fourth quarter comeback by Orrville was both exciting and amazing. It just seemed like Orrville couldn't buy a three pointer when they needed it. It was great to see a team fight like that to the very end.

Coach Slaughter and his staff must now work on building a program and not just one year's team at a time. I am confident he is fully capable of returning the Rider basketball program back to the elite status year in and year out.

Best of luck next season Riders, you can start rebuilding a tradition based on this season and hopefully can go 19-1 in the regualr season in 2010.

As an LCC fan, I just want to say congrats to Orrville on a tremendous season. You guys were definitely one of the Top 3 teams we faced all season, and certainly better than #1 Liberty-Benton, IMO. If you contine to play taht agressive, hard-nosed man defense I'm sure you will continue to have great success.

Also, I just wanted to add that I totally agree with everything said about the woman official. I don't know how many times I told people around me that she was acting like we were there to see her ref. She'd blow the whistle, wait a good ten seconds, and then finally make a call. Absolutely a pitiful display of officiating on her part. I hate to call anyone out like this, but she was one of the worst I've seen all year.

Funny to see that you all are complaining about the refs, where you were praising them in the Ready game. I think the saying is what comes around goes around.

1st of all Congrats to LCC.
Being from Orrville I was proud to walk out of the arena a Rider fan. We didn't play our best, but I loved the way we scratched and clawed back into the game with a chance to win being down 14 at one point in the 2nd half. That is a credit to the coaching staff and the players. All the players left it on the floor. I felt Sam's rebounding, Joey picking up the offense and Chase being Chase in the paint, kept us in the game the 2nd half. Then Zack started asserting himself and we almost pulled off a great comeback. Orrville basketball is back, looking forward to next year, but I'll miss this group of Seniors. Enjoy the moment Riders. You made the town proud.

I thought the Refs at the Ready game were consistant, No blood no foul, and it went both ways. The refs at the championship game were inconsistant. The players never had a feel for what they would call or let go.

As a huge Rider fan, lets not take this to the refs. We are better than that. We lost to a team that had a better day then us. I don't think that Lima would want to play us again for all the marbles because it could go either way.

Congrats to the Riders and to LCC. Great seasons.

Ditto that thought, In talking with friends from other parts of the state, they agreed on the female official, in fact one did games with her and couldn't believe the way she called a game, it's like let them murder each other one time then can't touch next time and she loved to call travels!

i agree, there was no blood, but there is NO reason to make that call at the end of a great game to decide the out come, when the play was CLEAN, and you could let the players decide the game in overtime, not the refs. Period.

Since when do officials watch the clock and put the whistles away at the end of a game or quarter or game, a foul is a foul just as much in the last 30 seconds as in the first 30 second. And yes it was a foul on Ready.

officials do watch the clock. the play should have been a no call, unless a play is an obvious foul, then it should be called. hapenned to evan turner agaist tennessee at the end. happens all the time in the nba and ncaa. a great game that should have let the players decide the winner in overtime, not put the game in the officials hands. A great game by both teams, and i will say that Bolyard is a greqt player, and with that i've probably seen about 8 all-ohio players play this year. Great player, hopefully he has a great college career.

^^Truth....on the Orrville & Ohio St. examples.

Refs are all doing there best to keep from interfering with the game...that being said...the gal was blatantly falling for the "flops" which shouldn't happen in State Title games and to have two guys decide the last foul was on Jake is inexcusable! period. You cannot tell me the last 30 seconds would play out the same with Jake still on the court as he rightfully should have. I don't care if he missed 20 in a row...that just means the odds of him making the next one increases exponentially. To have Joey and Jake available for the 3 at the end as well as Jake's penetrating ability would have been fun to watch. Wether Orrville wins or loses, Everyone there got cheated by an inexcusable call. Too bad really.

Bucknole14......I for one am not blaming the refs...if i came off that way it was'nt meant to. I don't think anyone else is either.....I think both orrville and lima cc all agree that the female ref was awful. Orrrville got beat because we were bad from the free throw line, gave up way to many offensive rebounds, and lost the loose ball battle...in other word's lima cc beat us!! Not the refs!! I'm proud as heck that with all those thing's orrville still had a shot to tie the game at the end...kid's played hard and never quit...what more can you ask for? Don't drag us into your "what comes around goes around" stuff. Just because we discuss an official or call does'nt mean we are blaming the refs. As for your ohio state example..In my opinion if turner does'nt put out his left arm to shield the defender on the last shot and just shoots the ball like he normally does...the tennesse player hit's turner on the arm and the ref blows the whistle!! But since turner initiated the contact....the ref rightfully did'nt blow his whistle.

Not sure why they didn't go to replay to see who fouled? Is that not allowed? I thought they changed the rule to let you watch the replay in the State tournament? Watched the replay tonite and Jake was nowhere near the player. Watched the replay of the Ready game on TV and Miller was hit on the arm and it was the right call. Saw in one of the NCAA games (Michigan Game) where a foul was called with the same 1.8 secs left and the ref had the guts to make the right call. Congrats to LCC for a better game than us. They will return a lot of players next year.

OHSAA allows for replay on buzzer beaters and shots where a foot may have been on the 3 pt line. Doesnt allow for replay to determine who commits fouls.
