Will pop sullinger be back to coach next year or will that be it since his young man moves on? Don't know much about this team other then the last 2 years? Is he a life time coach or was he there just for his youngster. Just a question because a lot of guys get out. Just wondering!

Called that Northland wouldn't win states this year...and I got made fun of for it.

I said it would be by a team that was in better shape and could shoot well and that is exactly what Gahanna did.

Satch is a good coach, but is way way way overhyped and so was this Northland team.

^wrong. They are not overhyped and neither is their coach. Look who they beat this year. You are totallyy clueless. Any team can get beat on a given night. Nobody stays undefeated forever. I just hope Gahanna wasn't up just for that game. We'll see. I hope they win it all.

Northland was far from overhype. If they was, they wouldn't have been ranked #1 nationally in numerous polls. They defeated two national powers in Findley Prep and Oak Hill. They dominated just about all their opponents before the Gahanna game. Gahanna played a dream game and with a lot of heart. They wanted it this game. Even Lebron was upset in high school, so it happens to the best of them.

Sorry, but if you're team isn't in shape at this point of the season, part of that is coaching. Period. And I know Lebron's TEAM even got beat, but was that roster as stacked as Nland? Did they have kids who were coming off the bench with scholly offers?

Quicker, smarter, better conditioned, better guard play= Better team

Who knows what Coach Sullinger will do, but he has been coaching for a long time.

    James “Satch” Sullinger
    – He has led the Vikings to a 21-0 mark this year and a No. 1 ranking in USA Today with the team playing Saturday in the Division I District Finals. For his career he has amassed a 145-76 record in his 10 seasons at Northland including the 2009 Division I Ohio State championship.

    Ya I am completely clueless....

Did Satch ever win a city league title before Jared got to Northland? I don't remember...

He has a team full of studs. I could have coached that team to an undefeated season.

Yes, you are correct, any team can get beat on any given night...it was just all the people on here saying it would never happen to Northland...I got bashed for saying they wouldn't win the championship...and they didn't even make it to the Schott.

There isn't any reason for this team to lose, but when they are undisciplined and unconditioned, you are bound to lose.

    Thanks for your insight Prscott.

OUt of shape?? Come on now. How can any bball team be out of shape at this point in the season? There can be many factors that can make a player look out of shape. Like for 1 using to much adreline to quick 2# seeing deers in head lights. I suspect #2 may have played a factor. Never being down like this it may have caused brain damage.

Northland has a guard going to Penn State. I don't buy that excuse.

And to say Sullinger was out of gas in the 2nd half is pathetic. Don't you train him?

    Yes.

    They had LeBron.

I think Sullinger is going to be a good player at the next level--but he's got a lot of work to do on the defensive end. A LOT.

Jared spent much of the first half running around chasing a much smaller Gahanna player while in a man to man defense. He never got a blow in the first half - Satch couldn't afford to take him out since Weatherspoon was in foul trouble. He needed him to be fresh in the second half to mount a comeback - wasn't to be found. Northland slipped into a zone for a while and tried various full and half court traps. Nothing worked as the Gahanna guards went around them. Jared was obviously not used to spending as much energy as he had to so early in the game. Being down by close to twenty also drains your energy.

No excuses - Gahanna had the better team Saturday night. Tough loss for Satch, Jared and Northland, but a sweet win for Gahanna.

As a side note - I've known Jared since he was a small lad - he's dropped a lot of weight, made himself into a fine basketball player - still has a way to go from a conditioning standpoint. Remember, the big guys on the floor wear out first since they go baseline to baseline - the guards mostly go free throw line to ft line or less. The huge difference was no guard answer for Northland - Jared held up his end during the game - did what he normally does..... the support cast was MIA.

Matta will not only get him into better shape,he'll make him into a better defender--look what he's done with Lauderdale ;)

There was 6'8" Devon Scott and 6'8" Jalen Robinson on the bench who could have given Jared a blow. Yes, they are not even close to what Jared is, but there was still players who could have came in, particularly this two guys I just mentioned.
