Fantastic Finish Hiland Girl's

THE4RINGZWow!!!
Congratulations Lady Hawks.
Good Luck Saturday. -
profmJust like the Lutheran East game, Hiland was practically dead. After being down 47-41, Hiland scored the last eight points, over about the last 2 1/2 minutes. The last basket was by Stucky with 12.8 seconds left. Hiland had two steals in the last couple of minutes, and Minster missed, I think, 2 free throws with 32 seconds left.
I listened to the webcast. By the sound of it, Minster missed a pretty close in shot shortly before the buzzer.
Minster always plays good D. It did sound like Hiland had trouble making threes, even when they got good looks. Their two best three point shooters were 1-10. Hopefully they'll make up for that tomorrow. -
Mr. 300Wow.......words can't describe it.
Good luck tomorrow. -
profmHiland 2-13 on threes, Minster 5-8 (63%). Those can't be average numbers for either team, certainly not for Hiland. Minster had 15 turnovers, which is pretty good against Hiland's pressure defense. Hiland had only 7 turnovers, which is very good any game.
Two point field goals, Hiland 16-43 (37%), Minster 12-28 (43%). Minster had a slight edge in rebounding, 32-29.
Hiland made up for some of it's poor three-point shooting at the free throw line, going 11-12; Minster was 9-16.
Congratulations Lady Hawks, get it done tomorrow! -

FidmeisterTwo of my favorite people in high school sports, Nann and Dave. A shame one of them had to lose.

bababooeyHiland plays Harvest Prep for the state title. HP won 49-46. Fort Loramie was leading 45-27 with 2:47 left in third, from that point on FL went 0-3 from the field, committed 14 turnovers and was outscored 22 to 1. I'm not sure which is more impressive the comeback of HP or the choke job of FL.

That sounds familiar to Hiland fans.bababooey wrote: Hiland plays Harvest Prep for the state title. HP won 49-46. tfloangelBelieve me, you don't need to tell us that. (So if you meant it as a slam, don't bother)

vhawks87Great game by both teams....sad to see someone lose like that. The Harvest Prep Fort game did look sadly familiar. I was pulling for Loramine they and Hiland seem to have a similar game. Number 10 for Fort is a great player. Tomorrow should be a good game....hopefully there will be some refs that call some better fouls on Harvest than the ones tonight.

#10 would be Olberding. I was just looking at the game transcript. It looks a little like she had to carry the team. Was Olberding really tired by the end of the game? She had six turnovers in the 4th quarter, three of them in the last 34 seconds.vhawks87 wrote:?

I'm a Hiland fan. Thought that was implied. No slam just a statement of fact.tfloangel wrote: Believe me, you don't need to tell us that. (So if you meant it as a slam, don't bother)
Hiland will need to shoot better to win today. -
vhawks87She did get tired but torn up too. She was fouled a good 2 or 3 times but the refs never called it. Numer 20 from HP basically sat on her and nothing was called. The one ref didn't call anything in favor of F.L., we have him in the IVC and he's does the same.

I don't want to take anything away from Prep by saying this wasn't a comeback but...GEEZ Loramie forgot they had another half to play...I was so shocked by this game! I mean who tries to start stalling with 3 minutes to go in the 3rd qtr. I give credit to Prep but in my opinion Loramie forgot how they got there and they gave it up more then Prep won it.bababooey wrote: Hiland plays Harvest Prep for the state title. Seriously, Loramie was trying to stall in the third quarter? That's crazy. The only time I've seen anyone do anything remotely like that was 5-6 years ago at the Classic, Dover came out in a slow down/stall at the beginning of the 4th quarter with a 12-14 point lead. They lost too.bballfan64 wrote:

PariahLoramie didn't go into a stall, but with the lead they decided to run some clock before trying to score. Solid idea except 1) it corresponded to a desperate increase in defensive pressure by HP and 2) it had the unintended effect of taking away the FL aggression on the offensive end that got them the lead in the first place! They went from dominating HP to not even being able to get a shot off. Strange things happen in those state games.
