Smithville (24-1) advances to the Elite 8 with a 57-45 win over Youngstown Ursuline (13-10). Smithies led by just 2 after 1 quarter, 12-10 as Ursuline started the 2nd on a 6-0 run to take their only lead of the game but Smithvile ended strong on a 8-0 run to take a 24-19 halftime lead. Smithville pushed their lead to as many as 12 in the 3rd but Ursuline held strong and trailed by 8 after 3, 39-31. Smithville held on in the 4th, posting a 57-45 win with Jenna Pew scoring a game high 26 points (18 in the 2nd half) and fellow Senior Alex Leister hit double figures with 13. Ursuline was led by Sophmore Aurielle Irizarry with 18 points.
Smithville will face South Euclid Regina for a trip to the State Final 4 Saturday
