DIV.4 NEW PHILA SEC. TOUR. SEEDING'S

    Just was wondering what everyone's thoughts were how the seeding's will go this sun. i think the Hawks have the no.1 seed lock up depending on how this weekend games go. Hawks better win both or at least have a split to get the no.1 seed. what's everyone thoughts who get the second seed and so on. as of 2-10-10 heres the records so far

    Hiland 13-2
    Strasburg 9-5
    Malvern 8-5
    TCC 9-6
    Steuben.CC 9-6
    Toronto 4-10
    CV 3-13

    It is a shame that Malvern and Strasburg have not played yet due to weather. I think the league will stick together and Malvern, TCC and Strasburg will get the 2-3-4 while SCC will be the 5 and end up in same bracket. Only one of those four will make it to Meadowbrook. Hiland could play their JV team and get to Meadowbrook if brackets fall that way

    So there will be two brackets, one with 3 teams, one with four? The #1 seed goes into the 3 team bracket, with a bye, playing--presumably--the winner of the bottom 2 seeds; seeds 2,3,4,5 go into the 4 team bracket to duke it out for the other winner that advances to meadowbrook. Is that your take? If so, sure hope Hiland gets the #1 seed! that other bracket is gonna be very tough!

    Saturday night about by 9:30 we should have a little better picture of how the voting may go.

    Ricola, I think your assessment of where the seeds will place themselve is likely. But a lack luster performance by Hiland this weekend and other teams may sense blood in the water. Placing themselves in the bye bracket (Hiland never takes the bye) gives them a one game matchup with a formidable opponent to head to the district as apposed to facing two in the 4-team bracket. Lets say TCC receiving a 4 seed would be faced with a first round Malvern, Strasburg, or bye and likely Hiland.

    The nice thing is all three first round games are played on the same day.

    you're right in that Hiland has traditionally not taken byes. If they go to the 3 team bracket they likely would play seed #7 game one, then whoever. I think they would be better off if they took the bye--more likely would play the winner of 6/7 . One of the better teams (seeds 2-5) would be more likely to jump into the bye spot and take their chances with (probably) Hiland, than they would to win a couple tough games in the other bracket. TCC especially has shown they can match up well with Hiland, and may not think twice about taking that spot.

    MALVERN - home Strasburg fri. and home East Canton sat.
    STRASBURG - at Malvern fri. and home Hiland sat.
    CONOTTON - home TCC fri.
    STEUBEN CATH- home Oak Glen w.va. fri. lost to them at Oak Glen 56-64 mite have makeup sat. not sure
    Toronto - home Edison Local fri. beat them at Edison by 18 in dec. and at Wellsvile sat. lost to them at Toronto in dec. by 40

    Just a thought... The bye could be seen as a valuable position to a team struggling to get their regular season schedule completed before their 1st tourney game.

    Strasburg has won 7 of their last 8. Playing good ball right now.

    Malvern splits. Winning over Strasburg and losing to East Canton
    Strasburg splits. Losing to Malvern and winning over Hiland.

    Even though Hiland has dropped a few games late they will get the top seed. The question is will anyone other than the #6 and #7 seed join them in their bracket.

    hmm...funny things often happen at these events.
    i'll tell you, right now there's essentially no difference between seeds 1-4. I wouldn't be surprised at whatever 2 make it out of there

    i seen Shadyside coach's at the Hiland vs Strasburg last sat. night ,i had heard that they wanted to stay away from Hiland till dist. finials. i think they change there mind after seeing Hiland play sat night. will probably play the Hiland Strasburg winner now in the dist. semi's. thats if Hiland can by CV, now they way they are playing who knows, this team has just fell apart big time.they have lost there confidence's

    shadyside's whole team was there. there is always respect for hiland.
