What a joke! Dispatch coaches poll.

  ^^^seriously, we would like to see the Alder girls go deep in the tourney, but it probably won't happen and that's OK. They've had a great year.
  
  What we found amusing was all the hits this thread got and the following week after it went up the Alder girls were ranked 5th in the Dispatch coaches poll. I just wonder if someone "important" read this thread. lol

  I've read on here a few times that "coaches hate doing them". Sounds like a poor excuse to us. That must be why they half ass it and don't get them right. Since they are asked to do them maybe they should try a little harder instead of sticking their heads up their asses and doing it blind.

  The distpatch should either do away with it or just have a raking by their staff.
  Which again I'll mention that JA doesn't always get their game results called into the dispatch or even live them on Maxpreps or their own site(not updated since Jan 16th!)... those other coaches aren't psychic!

So, according to you, the coaches no nothing about Alder if it's not there to read? ...And scores not listed on their "no up to date" website? Coach, you're grasping for straws on this one. Time to give it up. WOW! So we are to conclude that the only way the coaches know anything about JA, including if an Alder girl's basketball team really exists, is by reading the Columbus Dispatch sports or logging on to a not up to date Jonathan Alder HS website.   noooooo... it is a first hand example of why people like you ranting irrationally destroy the concept of a poll... nobody wants to be yelled at by a fan who can't even give a reason for his complaint! (it's why I stopped being a voter!)
  (though I did chuckle at you telling somebody who has BEEN a disptach voter in TWO different sports that they don't know how the process "really" works... enlightend me! lol)
  
  That's why I see this thread as very informative to people wanting to know why coaches have no interest in being part of, following or having anything to do with any polls!

  Polls don't mean shit. My team was ranked the #1 seed in the district tournament my senior year of HS, and yeah, we won districts, but it didn't carry us to a state tournament. being ranked in the state poll didn't mean squat either when it all came down to it because we didn't bring home the big prize. You want the recognition, go in the tournament, kick ass and take names, and bring home the hardware!

  how do you justify them being ranked higher than Desales or Jerome who play tougher schedules AND beat JA?

  The only time that the "rankings" have any meaning at all is after each Divisional Basketball Final has been played and State Champions have been determined. Everyone else just goes home.
