wildcats20Finally some respect for Westerville South.
-
gilsThat is the JJ huddle power poll not the AP poll.
-
wes_mantoothYeah, no way this is the AP. Newark Catholic is #1 in D4.
-
bulldog8My bad guys....I briefly glanced at JJ's homepage for the rankings but didn't realize this was their power poll and not the AP poll. I will change the title of the thread to avoid confusion.
-
wes_mantoothno problem. Honestly, other than the Newark Catholic ranking....this poll looks a little better. I really have little faith in the AP rankings.

erie warriorJJ will be charging for the use of his poll on here - ha ha

^^agree. with Warren Harding's beatdown of Iganatius in D1, they could easily be #2, but that's splitting hairs. And haven't seen NC in D4, so can't comment on them. Jefferson has a major stud and have played some major competititon; their record shouldn't fool anyone.wes_mantooth wrote: no problem. RedRider1This is the Ohio High School Hoops Blog poll. Guy just co-signed it over to JJ.

Eric TaylorI love how Cardington is #8 in the D3 AP Poll but not even on this dude's radar.

bulldog8Does anyone have any feedback as to why high school basketball doesn't utilize a computer rankings system similar to football? It seems to work pretty effectively in football and considers strength of opponent/size of school. It seems to me that this would be more effective than an AP poll that essentially means nothing in the grand scheme of things. If implemented, the computer rankings could be used to rank teams in the district instead of merely by record.
-
ricolamainly because in basketball everybody gets to go to the tournaments, while in football only a select few, so it's much more important in footbal for them to "get it right". maybe the seedings are a bit off this way, but everyone gets a chance.
-
wes_mantooth^^^I agree with that. In basketball, the AP poll is mainly for us to discuss and complain about...lol. I love that it gets settled on the court.

Plus since the coaches get to pick their games based on seedings you won't get the mismatches based on a weak schedule. The coaches know who they want to play and who they don't.ricola wrote: mainly because in basketball everybody gets to go to the tournaments, while in football only a select few, so it's much more important in footbal for them to "get it right". maybe the seedings are a bit off this way, but everyone gets a chance. -

Crazy, huh?wildcats20 wrote: Finally some respect for Westerville South.
They've beaten a great North team, 2 solid wins vs an VERY dangerous Central team, pounded D2 Watterson and Logan Elm whose records combined are probably 30-4.
I think they will get beat by North but even if they do they are a top 10 team in D1 in the state.
The AP poll is a joke, FYI. even though you know this already and that is why you posted this. Just ridiculous some of that garbage -
slingshot4everNice to see Toledo St. Johns get some respect in this poll.
-
mtrulzIt's JJ. No one cares.
-
Bubbadoes anyone still go to JJs?
-
JugheadNeeds to be updated...Oak Hill is undefeated now because a team from WV (whom beat Oak Hill) had to forfeit their first 4 wins.
