TMajicMalvern at Strasburg is Feb. 23
How about a scouting report on Ridgewood before I head down there tonight? Haven't seen them since early December. -
ricolathey have a 24 year old playing post---pretty good at that---and some nice outside shooters. pretty strong team. If they're playing well will be hard to beat. (tho i picked Malvern so expecting you to find a way!)
-
TMajicI wondered about the age on his birth certificate too. I have been watching their scores but haven't seen them in quite awhile thanks. We have battled some illness but should be near full strength tonight.

BfanThe Hiland score doesn't surprise me, sometimes playing a bigger school that gives you a beat down can be a good thing down the road. However sometimes it can shake the teams confidence in what they are supposed to do. And it happens more in young good teams, they can lose confidence in what there coach wants them to do. Also they can get caught up in the idea of people saying that no one will be as good as the team that just beat them down and then go into games thinking this, then surprise you get a reality check. Hiland should get it back, but may take another game or two.
As for Strasburg and Newtown.......... I am through with the both of you -
ricolagood thoughts, bfan. Hiland played flat and shot poorly, TCC played very well, and shot well. They were certainly the better team last night. Hopefully hiland can get back (soon) some of what they had ealier in the season, when at times they looked untouchable. Maybe these are normal growing pains, but they sure looked out of sync last night.
Starsburg has been playing better and better of late, and Hiland heads there Friday. That games looks pretty formidable at this point for the Hawks, whereas the Tigers seem to be getting their groove back and will not be an easy game for anyone the rest of the season. figured it was only time till CV finally got a conference win; figure (at least) another one will come before the season is over -
tfloangelI think that TCC showed last season with as young as they were that they were going to be something to reckon with provided the seven stayed healthy and out of foul trouble. They gave Hiland a very competitive game early on, and personally I'd much rather see them have a night like this in early February rather than the end and across town in NP's gym. It may hurt them in terms of the all-important AP rankings, but if it helps them out in the end, the rest doesn't matter.

ricolain the scheme of things--- the record, the rankings, the conference standings, etc mean very little. One wants to be playing their best basketball come february 27th, not december 27th or january 27th or feb 2. I didn't see Hiland's best basketball last night to be sure, but there are about 3 weeks left to find it.
Conversely, TCC certainly did look good. If they play like that (and particularly if they shoot the ball like that) they'll be a tough game for anyone. (tho they tried to let Hiland back in it by missing more then their share of foul shots late, but Hiland still couldn't take advantage) -
tfloangelI think you gathered as much, but I think we all know how much the AP rankings really mean anyway. Their pretty to look at, that's about it.

PariahI think all of us who saw TCC play at our place earlier were impressed with them, but then they didn't do that well after that. They certainly put it together Tuesday.
Yeah, you could kinda see this coming. The Hawks hadn't been playing their best, they got the stuffing beat out of them last weekend, and there may have been some strange mix of lack of confidence (Benedictine) and over-confidence (IVC opponent they beat by 19).
They lost the game in the first quarter. You just can't give up 27 off the bat regardless of how hot the other team is. You have to guard people and rebound or this can happen. And there is no excuse for a them scoring 7 points with the firepower they have. Obviously, they weren't in the game mentally once things weren't going well. That's when tough kids bear down and play through it. They didn't get there until later in the game and it was too late.
I stopped by and watched them practice a little last night. I don't think a lack of aggression and fight will be a problem for the next game.
