Coshocton defeats Cambridge
-
BTBallaCoshocton went to Cambridge and won tonight by around 15.
I was very disappointed by the Bobcats in this one, they got the game close and then self destructed. The Cats never stopped complaining about foul calls and stopped playing basketball, it was very hard to watch. Hatmaker complained some much he was givin a T and Cox fouled out with about 2:30 left in them game. Cambridge had a confusing end of quarter game plan in which the first 3 quarters they held the ball for the last minute to minute and half when trailing by 9, i dont understand why you hold the ball when losing.
I think Cambridge has 2 of its best players playing on the JV team in Francis and Wilkinson, they both should play full time varsity
On a side note after the T during a timeout a Cambridge assistant (Swank) was yelling and complaining to an official ( which he did non stop during the entire game) and a Coshocton coach came over to see what it was about. The Swank decided to yell and cuss out that coach. I think its an embarrassment to the team and school to have an assistant coach like that. -

It's disheartening as a fan to have to endure watching the coaching staff undermine what you know your players can accomplish.BTBalla wrote: Coshocton went to Cambridge and won tonight by around 15.

Hatmaker is a skilled player. Good coaching wouldn't allow that attitude to surface and instead channel that energy into the quality of play of which he's capable. -
BTBallaI completely agree, Cambridge has a terrible coaching staff right now.
Leppla is the only coach that is doing a good job his players played hard and were fun to watch. Vogt and Swank just yell and complain, that makes the team look bad and makes the players think its ok to act the same way on the floor. I hear Fondale does the same with the freshmen, leading to one kid quitting because he was tired of the language being used by the coach. When will coaches understand that yelling and swearing at the kids will not get them to play harded for them[/u] -
wes_mantoothIt is so strange to hear that the Cambridge program is down. When the Fords were around, they were always very good and had a decent shot at getting to Columbus.

BTBallaThats because Gene knew the game of basketball and had people around that understood what he was doing, from 7th grade up you knew what was expected of you and you taught the same thing all the way up so when you got to the varsity level you had being running the offense and playing the same style for 4 or 5 years.
Thats not there any more, the jr high plays different than the freshmen and freshmen different than jv, jv different than varsity. Plus having coaches like Swank, Fondale that have never played basketball makes a difference you need coaches that have played and understand the game
Vogt's first year 14-8 lost in sectionals
2nd year 14-8 lost in sectionals
3rd year 8-13 lost first game
4th year 15-5 regional finals
5th year 0-7 so far
except for a senoir led team last year vogt has been average at best, and anyone that saw Cambridge play last year knows that it was the players athleti ability that won a majority of the games not coaching -

I have been around both Coach Swank and Coach Vogt and neither one uses profanity...what I have witness, both coaches are fair to the players. I do think a little frustration has set in with the Cambridge program and with some victories all will be quite in BOBCAT landBTBalla wrote: Coshocton went to Cambridge and won tonight by around 15.

BTBallaThen why do the players look into the crowd to parents during the game instead of the bench? During most timeouts of the players came out of the huddle shaking their heads like they werent going to listen to what was just said. The players body language says they dont have and faith in the coach. But thats just my opinion
