Bowling Green 64 Westerville Central 60

  • Swamp Fox
The game came down to BG's outside shooting vs. Central's strong post play. The Bobcats were on fire in the first half and opened up a 31-16 lead before Central called a time out and starting whittling away at the BG lead. Dible and Orr were the offensive sparkplugs for BG and the Westerville team depended on slashing drives to the bucket and dish offs for easy buckets underneath. It was a hard-fought game and the teams were very different in character but very similar in their ability to play the game. BG had some trouble when the Westerville team brought pressure in the second half. Vannett led the Westerville team with 20 or so points and was a load down inside at around 6'6 and about 235. A man among boys.

Did Westerville Central even have a clue (scouting report) on BG? Leaving both Dible and Beattie open for threes is just stupid and that's what built the 15-point lead. West-Central goes to a man-to-man and scores 13 straight points and BG struggles. West-Central only had about 2 1/2 decent ball players. Vito Brown served a one-game coach's suspension and did not play.

W'ville did scout BG earlier in the year so not sure what they were thinking. Not sure why Vannet didnt get the ball more. Anyway, we'll take the win and get ready for Sfield next week.
