Ya runnin outside today?
-
GymshoeStationrun, say it ain't so.............you CAN'T be hurt. How will we get any inspiration now? Your trail running reports are priceless. Hope you heal up soon. I had plans to run some trails this weekend but will hold off for now................12" of snow will do that. Luckily got in a nice 6 miler today before the snow set in.............

stationrunKnee is getting better, but I still can't run outside, especially after 12" of snow last night. The last 5 days I've been biking and rowing. Was able to jog a little on the treadmill yesterday and today, so I'm hoping to get some running in tomorrow.
-
stationrunYou know the worst part Gymshoes...I slipped on a perfectly dry bike path a couple weeks ago, not even when the paths were real snowy. Right foot went off the path as I came around a corner and the left legs stayed planted as I slipped and the knee popped loud enough that I could hear it. I tried running through it for the next 2 weeks and it kept getting worse, geez it's hell to get old!!

givetallugotsorry to hear that stationrun
i chickened out today and ran on a treadmill -
givetallugotYeah I'm lifting Mondays and Wednesdays. I've gained 10 pounds since senior year. Partly muscle, partly fat.

NW5kI see BGSU has at least 3 HS Seniors that want to join your Mens CC team next year. Two have good stats. Are any of your old HS team thinking about coming?
-
givetallugot
Yes, two have good stats, and the other is so so, but he also played soccer while running cross and still managed low 17s. Now that he is focusing only on running, I think he'll get a lot better.NW5k wrote: I see BGSU has at least 3 HS Seniors that want to join your Mens CC team next year. Two have good stats. We expect 3 more low 17s runners to commit as well for a freshman class of 6.
Tyler Feitshans and Kevin Fink from Tipp won't be coming to BG, unfotunately. Tyler is looking to major in engineering, which BG doesn't have, and Kevin is a National Scholar Finalist, so he has his sights elsewhere. -
friendfromlowryI ran outside today -- wasn't too bad. Most people had their sidewalks cleared off. Running in the snow isn't as bad as you think it would be.
-
GymshoeStationrun, I'm with you on the "OLD" part. Of course I am old AND fat, a deadly combination. Isn't that how it works with us oldtimers and injuries? I mean they come out of nowhere. My left knee started bothering me last week and all I did was STAND UP. Didn't do it running, didn't do it doing something crazy, I just stood up.
-
said_aouitaGot a shorter run in today, only around 25 minutes. My arch is mad at me. I'm wondering if I had my shoes too tight, or if it's just irritated from running on the slick snow and ice.
I've also gotten in a lot of "cross training" with all the shoveling of snow, plus I'm hearing we have another half of foot coming in a couple days.
Sweet! -
stationrun
That pace would kill this old guy.ccrunner609 wrote: So I ran a few THreshold miles at about 6:30 pace....
The knee is a hell of a lot better so I ran 4 miles on the treadmill, hope to be able to get back outside running tomorrow. The dog is not happy with all this time off from her nightly run! -
givetallugotI have the cold and have been feeling pretty crummy this week. May or may not run 5k tomorrow.
-
stationrun
Tough to run indoor with a cold, the dry indoor air just kills you when your head is all stuffed up. Good luck tomorrow at All-Ohio if you do run it give!givetallugot wrote: I have the cold and have been feeling pretty crummy this week. May or may not run 5k tomorrow.
I'm back running outside and the knee is back to normal which is good since I'm heading to Florida on Thursday for a 4 day weekend in Cocoa. Would have really sucked to not be able to run while I'm there! -
said_aouitaWe have sun! Had a nice run this morning. Still a little chilly into a head wind.
-
cvctrackfanI haven't ran outside since heck was a pup.......This week I am going to give it a try

stationrunThought of you all today as I was running on the beach along the Atlantic Ocean in Cape Canaveral!! You jealous, it was 70 and sunny!!

That's just downright mean, stationrun.stationrun wrote: Thought of you all today as I was running on the beach along the Atlantic Ocean in Cape Canaveral!! You jealous, it was 70 and sunny!! -
said_aouitaJust shorts and a T? You crazy.....it's not that warm yet.

LOL daughter said the same thing, so I'm guessing you probably don't want to hear about my 7 mile run along the Indian River that ended with pizza and a cold beer. Had a blast in Cocoa, but now it's back to reality in Ohio!orangechik00 wrote: That's just downright mean, stationrun.
BTW orangechik, I follow girls D3 very closely since that is what my daughter ran when she was in high school. I never got a chance to tell you what a fabulous day your girls had at the state CC meet, 5th place at state had to be a thrill for you and your team!! I'm betting not many teams that had 6 freshman have placed that high in the past at state. Belated (very belated) Congrats!!! -

Thanks for the kind words, stationrun. I didn't know what we would have left emotionally for State after the battle at the SW Regional meet but the girls showed a lot of heart and composure for being so young. Looking forward to see what 2010 brings!stationrun wrote:

P.S. At least I can still have beer and pizza! -

Agreed, I've had enough of winter!!!ccrunner609 wrote: Today freakin sucked -
GymshoeAmen, I have been ramping up my mileage for the last month or so to get ready for a springtime 1/2 marathon. I love snow, but, I gotta admit, I'm facing serious "snow fatigue" right now. Not so much the snow, but getting layered up to go run is really getting to be a pain. CCrunner, I can't even FIND a trail right now. And, when the snow does melt, the trails around here will be like running in soup. Don't think too many of us will be complaining about summer heat this summer.
-
stationrunEnough of this snow & winter already, bring on spring!!
-
stationrunAhhh a nice sunny 40 degree day today, got in a 7 miler with my dog Jodi!
