West Holmes vs. Hiland

Didn't realize they hadn't played each other for that long way back when. (I was probably too young to remember!) I remember there being some hard feelings with JVR for some reason or other--maybe that's why it stopped for awhile, but have no idea whose idea it was (though very likely Hiland's). But agree, should be a yearly thing for both teams.
As for the boys side---it's only really been the last 2 years that have not been that close. Hiland may have the majority of wins over the past 5-10 years but most games have been quite competetive as I remember.
Didn't see the game, but sounds as though Lindsey keeps WH going. Nice player and nice young lady!

I can remember an article in the Bargain Hunter, about the time they quit playing, written by the guy who used to write sports article, (though I can"t remember his name) That he was glad the Hiland Lady Hawks weren't playing the Lady Knights due to the way they were winning could set the losing teams back years and take them a long time to recover.

I have always thought they should have a varsity/varsity doubleheadrr.
Hold both JV games at WH then have girls game at 6 followed by boys game at Hiland. Split the gate receipts. Next year switch them: JV at hiland then Varsity at WH. Imagine the crowds you'd get.

Kind of like what Hiland does nightly in the IVC?

Abe Mast was the author of the article. He was coaching the Hawks team at the time, and the lady Knights had just pummeled his team, plus Lisa had set the state girls scoring record(still stands today) of 76 points in a single game that season.

Can I ask a question? Who cares about why they stopped playing and who wrote what in the 1980's? Actually that is two questions. I had hair and six pack abs in the 1980's - well, early in the 1980's - but it's kinda irrelevant now! :(

These two teams should play for the reasons 300 cited, and no loss in the series will make one of the programs, and no loss will "set it back".

Can't wait to see the younger Snyder girl next year. Was told by a Hiland coaching staffer that in 5 years they expect she will be playing in a "top 20 Division 1 college program." I was also told they have another girl in her class who is also very talented. That's why 300 is talking about this series being cyclical! He can see it coming around the bend for WH. We'll see. I like what we have on the bench doing the coaching.

I think that's what makes for a good cross county rivalry. The underlying things that get the other side all fired up. Good stuff.

Of course what we forget is the fact that we have two of the premier girls basketball programs in the state of Ohio right here in little ole rural Holmes County!!! Take that big city schools.

Well, seeing how I'm right about you not living here, and your spinning a response into a dimension that makes me laugh out loud, I'll have my only mistake this year out of the way early.

Nope. Your still wrong. You said, "your not here. Your in Zanesville." There's no mention in your post about my residence, and currently I'm here.

So by definition, your statement is inaccurate. Ie - your wrong. So let it go and I will. Btw, your nuts if you think that's the only mistake you'll make this year. :)
