Bowling Green 72 Rossford 51

Rossford led 29-26 at the half but the Bobcats came out in the third quarter and started to take control of the game. Max Beattie led BG with 22, including 6 from three point land, and Chauncey Orr had 18, with Tony Dible contributing 12. Jonathan Stoner did a great job defensively for BG. Rossford simply couldn't match BG's depth and simply ran out of gas in the second half. This was BG's second consecutive good performance and I think we can agree that Rossford is not a bad ball club. Tomorrow night will be interesting as the St. Johns Titans visit Bobcat Gym.

    Nice win for BG

St. John's dominated U of D Jesuit tonight at home. I'm sorry to say this but I don't think BG stands much of a chance tomorrow night against SJJ. SJJ will push the ball at every opportunity and press the whole game. I doubt BG can match the speed that U of D Jesuit had tonight.

If SJJ comes to play and plays hard all game, this will not be close. But city league teams have a reputation for easing up when they leave the city, and this could happen Wednesday night in BG. BG is bigger, but SJJ is faster, far better at the guard spot and dramtatically better coached. Having said that, if SJJ does not guard the 3-ball and some foul trouble hurts them, it would not shock me to see a very close game.

Perrysburg has proven, at least thus far, that they are clearly the favorite once again in the NLL Race. I would agree that based on early season results, the Jackets deserve the favorites' role with BG a somewhat distant second. The "new team on the block" sitting at number three may well be those Sspringfield Blue Devils, who seem to have shaken off that early season blow-out loss to the home standing Rossford Bulldogs. It would appear that the games pitting BG and Springfield and those featuring Perrysburg vs. Springfield and the game at Perrysburg with BG supplying the opposition, will pretty much settle the NLL Race this season. I'm just not sold on the Cougars being a real factor in the Title chase this year. They seem to have lost too much to compete and the Bulldogs just don't have enough bodies to withstand the team depth of the Jackets and the Bobcats. It's going to be a lot of fun down the stretch!

Everyone knew this was going to happen, no shocker here.

I agree with you that most of us thought that BG would have enough to win the game against the Bulldogs at home. To me, the margin of victory was the only thing that was a little surprising. Plus I think the Dogs had everyone in uniform for the game. I believe the difference is in the defensive intensity the Bobcats have displayed, particularly in the last two games. Now against St. Johns...that may be more difficult to do.

Ross is right on point on the game tonight at BG vs. St. John's. The Titans are the better team, but the Bobcats could pull the upset. Shame on SJ if they allow BG to get hot from the 3-point line. Shame on SJ if they are not able to cause numerous BG turnovers (big problem so far this year from what I've read at the guard spot). There ought to be a little TCL pride on the line but SJ played without much passion early in the season in 2008-09 and just cannot afford that tonight. We'll see.

And that team went to the D1 final four, SJJ and that included a domination of Southview in the District finals. And beating this same BG team by 40 last year.
