PVC Basketball

  • I drain 3's
What's everyones thoughts on how the PVC has shaped up so far this year, and what are your predictions for the future? I haven't been able to attend any games and haven't really read much either, so feel free to post teams records and such, as I only know a few.

So far, the surprise to me is Fort Frye. One of the pre-season favorites to win the league, is off to I believe an 0-4 start. Buckeye Trail has been playing without arguably their best player so far this year, so i'll be interested to see how they perform once he comes back into the lineup.

    Other info, thoughts, predictions?

All the talk I heard before the season was that Trail is the team to beat this year. Injury to Beros made that a little doubtful, but they're stepping up and playing well in his absence. After that? Caldwell is on the bottom, and the rest is pretty up in the air.

How good has Frontier been so far this year? I haven't seen or heard much about them.

Seems like Frontier is the best team in the league right now. Also seems safe to say that there aren't really any great or even "good" teams this year. Pretty down year for the league.

The Caldwell vs. Bellaire St. Johns game was cancelled due to weather. Not sure if they have made it up yet or when they plan on doing it.

fort frye has a damn good ball player with shonn smith. If he keeps playing varsity this year they could win a lot more games than without him. Freshman too so hopefully he improves some and really turns into a great player. Tons of young talent on this team (code for raw and undisciplined) going to be a long year for the Cadets unless the seniors step up. When Watson comes back from his knee injury that could spark a run for FFHS too.

If Smith goes back to JV, this team is 6-7 wins at best. With Smith running the point they'll win 11-13 games and maybe steal a tourney game. I'm not sure if they'll qualify for the OVAC tourney since they already have 5 OVAC losses.

Liedtke is closing in on 400 wins and I personally suspect that when he gets it, he's done with boys and will focus on coaching his daughter(s) (I thought he had 2) and the girls at least for awhile.

Not sure if Touchdownskins is on this site, but I heard a rumor that #23 for Caldwell is some relation to him. Either way that kid is awesome and it will be lost because this team is not good.

I was touchdownskins back in the days of JJhuddle. Figured it was time for a name change lol. Anyways, if you're talking about the Lucas kid, you were mis-informed. Either somebody doesn't know my real identity or they just got it wrong, but as far as I know, the Lucas kid and I are not related.

Finally got to catch a game the other day. Went and watched Caldwell vs. Fort Frye. For one, I give the Caldwell players props for sticking with it. To know that the team will probably struggle to win a game this year, and go to all the practice and all the game shows a lot of heart. Next, Fort Frye really didn't impress me that much. They had a couple nice shooters, but no real size at all. And to finish things off, the lack of talent in the league this year is astonishing. Outside of Caldwell, I could probably name two players from other schools, those being Beros from Trail and the Potts kid from River. And I try to follow the PVC as much as possible. If my senior class (graduated in 06) were able to play against the teams from this year, we would run through this league like it was our job, without question IMO. Back when I played, almost every team had at least one damn good player, and sometimes more than that. Where has all the talent gone?

seems like all the talent at FFHS is young. there are some 8th graders with promise and 3 or 4 freshmen who can ball, but are rough around the edges. Can't say what's going on elsewhere.

Caldwell picked up their first victory of the season by beating Bellaire St. Johns by 15+ last night. The comeback has begun!

Also, heard Rosecrans demolished Fort Frye a little while ago. Rosecrans that good or is Fort Frye just not as good as we thought?

    I think it's both.
