Cardinal Mooney position

  Looks like Mooney is looking for a new coach. Posted only within the Diocese....can't have an outsider coaching the boys??

  Brian Danilov has been claiming around town that Mooney has wanted him for some time now...along with every other mahoning valley school. the nba will be calling soon.

  also they have to post the position within first...if noone applies, which noone should, then itll go outside. i expect danilov to be first in line. hes been vying for this job for awhile hanging around mooney freshman bball games

  Danilov huh? Did he ever apply at Mooney before? I know they've gone through a couple of coaches over the years, just wondered if he ever did. Wonder why the present coach was let go.....watching him at the games, he seemed to be doing alright, it's tough when the football team goes to state every year....

  danilov is a classic opportunist. he made it almost impossible for campbell to hire him back with his demands (which included working only a half day) and will now use this as his excuse for coaching another team. deep down he knows hell have a hard time showing his face around here. he has been pulling strings behind the scenes in campbell regarding the open position for a year now. to the point where he even had the nerve to tell the candidate that didnt get the job the reason was because the administration including one prominent board member didnt want a "black head coach." hes been absolutely destructive and its mostly because hes an ego maniac. the little known secret around town is that danilov has definitely lost a step when it comes to basketball. great motivator and trainer but the Xs and Os of the game have seemed to pass him by. His reputation in this valley is great but ask gunther what he thinks about his basketball knowledge...its not where it was. he got stuck in his ways and its been evident for awhile. yes hes been successful but alot of that success was based on superior athletic talent not Xs and Os. Bottomline is this...he wanted out of campbell and made it impossible for them to hire him back and now he plans on honing in on the job hes really been eyeing.

  Understandable. Everyone loses a bit of their edge as they go along, but sometimes you can get a little too high on yourself. I do remember there being some good athletic talent that helped Danilov out in Campbell. I just hope he's ready for what Mooney really is...we all know they love the oblong ball more than the round ball and it is tough to get the guys back into that basketball frame of mind after busting it out on the football field.
  Hope he's ready for the parents too...after talking with a few of my buddies, it sounds as if, should I say, some affluent parents want things their way - the "my way or highway" mentality...guess time will tell.

  i think the days where danilov can pull a trick out his hat are over...not unless he brings back his old staff. everyone in campbell knows creed was as a much a part of that ring as danilov was.

  a highly valued donor (bowflex?) threatened to pull money if the head coach wasnt fired and danilov wasnt hired in his place...this will happen.

  Ahhh I see...and I understand who you are talking about also. Geez, I remember my days at Mooney when we worried who was bringing the 'brownies' to school that day. Now it seems like it is more of who's bringing the rolls of hundreds today. Can't believe parents have the gall to start making demands like that. But I guess if Sanilov can handle that, then I guess best of luck to him.

  Yeah. I'm pretty sure he used to own it and sold it to the Chinese for a whole lot of money. He actually lived in China for a long time and just moved back about ~10 years ago. He built that monstrous wall on Tippecanoe Rd. near 224.

  i dont see anyone leaving. hes leaving because the grass is greener but you never know. in addition its more difficult to transfer from campbell to mooney than ursuline. djk for example. his family had to up and move from campbell to poland to get into their "zone"....oh wait. anyone who would want to transfer would need to be released by campbell and i dont see that happening either or sit out a year. there are loopholes like i stated above, but i see danilov focusing on youngstown east.

  rocket08 looks like youre the meat head....did they not teach the meaning of a question mark at mooney? clue...its not the same as a period but it is a form of punctuation. it was pretty clear he was asking a question. its funny how punctuation can completely change the meaning of a whole sentence!!!!!!!!

  way to deflect from the fact that your original comment didnt have a leg to stand on. do us all a favor and read the post thoroughly before making uninformed statements. "wow im floored" and the being able find a cute face that mirrors the dumb expression you have on your face is a pathetic excuse for a response. show some catholic school pride and put some thought into your dumb post.

  The superintendent release rule no longer exists in Ohio. If the athlete doesn't move he/she isn't transferring from Campbell to Mooney without sitting a year.

  Is it true that if you transfer you can still play JVs??? That would constitute as sitting out a year?
