Hiland goes Back to Back
-
ricolaCongrats Hiland for winning the second of back to back state title today at the Schott! (and quite convincingly!) 54-2 the last 2 seasons! That will be hard to duplicate for quite some time I'm guessing.
A part of me feels bad for the likes of Malvern, Rosecrans, and Richmond Heights, who had great teams the last 2 years as well, but happened to coincide with two great Hiland teams, otherwise one of them may be celebrating instead. -
wes_mantoothPlayed much, much better today....very good team.
-
THE4RINGZCongratulations Hawks.
-
ricolayes wes--one of their best played games of the year i think. Made JC look like a very average team, and they obviously aren't.
-
Mr. 300Incredible run by the Hawks. The addition of Bonifant put them over the top the past 2 years, but they lose everything to graduation after this year. They played the best game of the tournament in my mind, and proved this was a very special group.

september63Next year will be a challenge.
-
Mr. 300The OHSAA commissioner that did the trophy presentation had a major gaffe. During his mic time he made mention that the Hawks should be very proud of the communities of Winesburg, and Walnut Creek, and Berlin.
He forgot to mention Strasburg!! -
1_beastCongrats Hawks!
-
RedRider1Any Hiland fans know Bonifant's final career point numbers? WQKT said he has over 1400 counting his 2 years at Garaway.
Kauffman finishes 5th all-time in Wayne/Holmes County area history. -
ricolaI think it was close to 1460? Will try to come up with the exact #. (and it was Strasburg--not Garaway)
Who are the top 5 in Wayne/Holmes? -
RedRider1Got it...it's 1456.
Kauffman finished 5th. I'll be posting to my blog tonight and it will list the updated top 25 in Wayne/Holmes history.
I'll share the link once it's posted. -
RedRider1Here's the link to the top scorers in Wayne/Holmes Co. history. Feel free to save and share.

stlouiedipalmaWatched the game on STO last weekend and, while the Hawks were as good as always, I can only wonder how much their game changed with all that height. They always had good shooters at Hiland, but that kind of size made Jackson Center's task next to impossible. Congrats to the Hawks.

ricolaRider: Interesting list. Thanks for posting. Where was Chester? looks like they had a couple players in the 40s/50's!
louie: for sure. 6'7,'6'7,6'5 the last TWO years is very unusual in DIV. And they could all play in addition to just being tall. And with a back to back POY to the mix--not likely to see that again anytime soon. -

centralbucksfanI am sure the late, great Perry Reese is looking down like a proud pappa on the program he built.
