Dover's 6'2" Junior PG is averaging 23.5 points through the first two games of the season. His hot start is a big help to the team that is getting over some injuries and a late start from the football team's Regional Final appearance. One of many talented players in the Eastern District/Tuscarawas Valley this year.

I said in the ECOL thread that Brown would win POY but Monaco is hte best playuer in the league. Just wait till next year, he'll end up being DOvers best player ever

The Huggins/Monaco genes are serving Anthony well. He is a great talent. Once he fills out, the sky's the limit.
When he was younger, he got himself into trouble at times keeping his emotions in check. Hopefully, he has that part of his game under control.

Has there been a time in this area with a better collection of basketball players? The ECOL and IVC are both filled with good players, and some that have a shot to earn scholarships to play at the next level, which is rare for this area.
    Hiland - Kaufman(so), Boyd(jr)
    Strasburg - Bonifant(so)
    Dover - Monaco (jr)
    Malvern - Tucci(so)
    Coshocton - Brown (sr?)
    Garaway - Honingford (jr)
New Phila, TCC, Meadowbrook all seem to have competitive teams as well.

Indeed. Will not have to travel far to see some great players and good match ups. I will be taking in the Garaway @ TCC game tonight while the wife shops it up down the road at the mall.

Probably the best era of basketball in the IVC since the 70's/early 80's. Back in those days you had the likes of Andreas at Garaway, the Huggins boys at IVS, Columbo at TCC, Dave Jones at Jewitt-Scio, Olinger and Co. at Ridgewood, and plenty of basketball talent at Strasburg, Newct, Lakeland, Malvern, IVN, Hiland, and Jewitt-Scio. Believe it or not, the IVC had TWO #1 teams in 1977. Ridgewood was #1 in Class "AA" and Indian Valley South was #1 in Class "A". When they played at West Lafayette in the battle of #1's, the Generals won decisively, 80-51.

That was actually just before my time, but I was thinking this was probably the best we have seen around here since that era of the Huggins' and the others you mentioned. Maybe by the time these current kids graduate they will lead their teams to the same success on the state level.

Anthony scored 14 last night to lower his average to 20.33 ppg. Struggled from the perimeter but played a nice floor game.
Honingford and Tucci were both instrumental in leading their teams to close wins last night as well.

Well stated Wooball. I was thinking the same thing as you (about current kids and future team success) as I watched the replay of TCC and Garaway last night. Definitely some solid talent from both teams. Honigford has DI potential and several other kids from both squads should be able to at least play DIII ball. Troyer, Mullett, Fickes, Sweet, Fondriest......................all looked solid.
