2011-12 Northern Buckeye Conference

Classyposter58What's everybody's thoughts? I think Lake and Eastwood are the teams to beat this year with 3-7 interchangeable and Genoa chillin on the bottom
-
Swamp FoxI've seen Lake play and they are a load. I don't know how good they would do in the Northern Lakes League or the TRAC or the NWOAL, but they will be very difficult to beat in the Northern Buckeye Conference this season. The scariest part about them is their depth. At the moment I'm not sure there is anyone in their league that can stop them from going undefeated and rolling to a convincing league championship.
-
royal_kI would have to agree with Lake being the favorite. They return the most and are deep and athletic. Elmwood lost their whole starting 5 and top 6 players to graduation. That's a lot to replace. I watched them friday at Fostoria. They have some size and some nice players, but they shot poorly from the field and foul line. They easily could have won with better shooting. With playing time comes improvement. They may have a pretty good team the second time through the league. Fostoria had no size, but were very athletic. They have a very good junior class and a good looking freshman. They could make some noise and could potentially be a threat. They hung with Findlay, and that's saying something.
Eastwood, Otsego, and Woodmore all have nice teams. I was surprised at the margin of victory by Eastwood over Otsego. The Knights have a very good junior class. I was expecting more. -
royal_kOtsego did get a good road win over Delta saturday 73-66.
-
TBone14It is nice to see the Flyers as the team to beat for a change instead of the basement dweller on the hardwood.
-
royal_kLake over Elmwood tonight at Lake 67-55
Didn't get to the game. But this was the smallest margin of victory so far for Lake.
Other games thursday

Woodmore 39
Rossford 61
Fostoria 59 OT -
Classyposter58This is Lake's league IMO, still it's nice to see a somewhat decent league again. Tired of the crappy basketball the last 2 seasons have provided us with. I'll be shocked if the Flyers until the calendar flips at least
-
birddog23Eastwood wins it all, just like football.

I'm kinda gonna miss playing G-Burg in other sports besides football. Don't forget folks, they did come an overtime away from playing in the Sweet 16 last yearroyal_k;1018642 wrote:Elmwood lost to Gburg 54-51. They lead at the half by 8 but couldn't hold on.

royal_kGenoa beat Cardinal Stritch wednesday in OT 62-60. Pretty good win for the Comets.
Lake lost to Delta last night 58-53. This one really surprised me. -
Classyposter58
Ha as much as it pains me to say I'm very worried my Comets will go 0-14 in conference play. 2006-07 seems like a distant memory for this program which is crazy considering the athletes Genoa has had since thenroyal_k;1024852 wrote:Genoa beat Cardinal Stritch wednesday in OT 62-60. birddog23Eastwood beats Lake for the 2nd time this season and earns a share of the NBC trophy. The Eagles looked pretty solid talent and contributions from everyone. Congrats Eastwood and good luck in the tournament.
-
royal_kElmwood over Carey in their sectional semi 64-57.
The Royals led by double digits for the most part and as many as 16 in the second half. A good effort over a pretty solid 13-7 team.
In other sectionals...
Bowling Green defeated Otsego 54-41
Huron over Genoa 54-46
Margaretta over Woodmore 58-48
