Poland Bulldogs 98 Lakeview Bulldogs 41

  • bulldog8
The Dogs of Poland took down Lakeview tonight with Niko Fatimus scoring 19 points, Darius Patton with 18, and Baker with 12. It looks like Poland is back at it with their high-powered, full court press strategy. They should have quite the personnel to do it this year and should be the favorite in the Boardman district. Any thoughts?

Great start for a great team! They look ready for a strong season and a solid run.

Poland definitely picked up where they left off, but they were up against a very different Lakeview team than in years past. This year's Lakeview squad has no seniors and only 1 player who saw very limited varsity action last year. Last nite, the Lakeview Bulldogs started 3 sophomores against a very talented and senior-laden Poland team.

Give Poland credit--they have heighth, speed, shooting accuracy, defensive ability, etc. That's what we hope Lakeview will be someday again.

Maybe one of these years, we'll be able to grow a couple of kids with basketball talent who are over 6'4.

Below is the link from the Vindicator from last night's game between Poland and Lakeview if anyone is interested. I was most surprised to find Wollet's name in the write-up as there was rumor that he might sit out his senior season of basketball to have surgery on his thumbs before pursuing football at Kent State. Luckily for Poland, he decided to play :)

When you put all your eggs in 1 basket the priior year this is the result. If Poland only plays all seniors this year the trend could change in the next few years????? ALthough this Seminary for young men seem to find new faces every year.

sports talk....Although Poland has great senior leadership this year, they also play several underclassmen. Considering their fast-paced and full court press style, they are required to go about 8-10 deep in order to have fresh legs on the floor at all times. This allows some of the younger guys to get experience on a nightly basis. Also, referring to your last statement, Poland does not go out and "GET" players. Darius was transferred in custody from his mother to his father here in Poland.....if that's who you are referring to.

Was not referring to him. What I meant was that the kids coming up throught the program keep filling gaps every year. Will the cupboard ever run dry??? Doesn't look like it.

Poland could be destined to make another run to Columbus. Even during that run a few years back I remember talking to Poland people about this year being their big chance with Fatimus and Donlow etc.. Throw Patton in the mix this is going to be one dangerous team to contend with. By far the faves in the Boardman district. I only wish my Cards coulda snuck under the D2 limit so we could take our shot.
