Theoretical Base Running Question.

most likely on a homerun, but any other time as well, three runners are between 2 bases, would the anyone be ruled out because 3 players are occupying 2 bases?

I don't think so, just because of the situation. A tag must be applied. I know that if two runners occupy one base then the lead runner is entitled to the base. I can see a situation where a single is hit with men on first and second and the runner on first rounds second and is caught in a rundown between second and third, the runner on second stays at third and the batter advances to second while the rundown is happening. In this situation a tag would have to be applied to the man caught in the rundown while not touching a base or if he returns to second a tag play could result in an out with two runners occupying one base.

No. There is no force out. Runner must be tagged. Happened to me in a softball game this year. Bases loaded, catcher tried to get girl sleeping at first and pick her off. Girl takes off for 2nd. Girl standing on 2nd/3rd, girl b/t 2nd/3rd. MUST tag the runner off the bag.

Bases loaded, one out and a long high fly out to near the LF wall along the line. Runner on3rd holds to be sure he can score on the SF if the LF catches it. Runner on 2nd goes 2/3 of the way to 3rd, so he can score if the ball hits the ground for an instant before it is picked up and fired in. Runner on 1st rounds 2nd by about 30', about as far as he dare go and still be able to get back to 1st if the LF catches it, and as close to home as possible so he can score in the least amount of time if the ball hits the ground. Perfect baserunning and all three baserunners within 60' of each other. No violation whatsoever. If you are the left fielder, where do you throw it when you catch it?

No different than 2 guys between two different bases really which ya see often enough. If you think about it this is an easy question.

For instance when this may happen often. Guys on 1st and 2nd. Gapper is hit and the guy on first reaches second base before the guy on second base before the guy on second reaches third, therefore two guys between 2 and 3rd.

Also maybe 2nd and 3rd bases occupied. A ball hit that could possibly be caught but probably not and the guy on third waits to tag and the guy on second gets off the base halfway or so. He will reach third before the guy on third scores therefor two guys are between 3rd and home.

I think ya just didnt think out the question before asking
