DII Final Four Player Info

  • thePITman
Down at state my dad and I always like having info on all the teams and their players. So, who are the starters, leading scorers, best players, college recruits, conference players of the year, and so on for each team? Thanks for any info!

    Columbus Bishop Hartley
    St. Vincent-St.Mary
    Toledo Rogers
    Dayton Thurgood Marshall

We obviously have some good general knowledge from years past and following basketball this year, but more details before the tourney starts would be great.

Thank you, and good luck to all the teams at state!

Central Catholic is DI. Akron SVSM is the fourth semi finalist.

For Rogers, Damond Powell was Toledo City League POY and DII NWO District POY. He averaged 22.5 a game.

This is Rogers' first year in DII after dropping from DI.

COLUMBUS - Dayton Marshall rallies in the final quarter to defeat Rogers 68-66 in a Division II state semifinal matchup on Thursday afternoon at Value City Arena.

A last-second 3-point attempt from the baseline in front of the Rogers bench by Ram Tony Kynard - off an inbounds play - was off the mark as time expired.

J.R. Jacree paced Rogers with 15 points while Clemmye Owens added 14 points. Damond Powell and Kynard finished with 12 and 11 points, respectively.

Rogers played in their first state tournament game in school history.

The Rams and Cougars went into halftime tied at 34-34.

12 points from the DII POY. Hmmmm, I'd guess this was why they lost.

Powell was one heck of a player. VERY quick! Thurgood Marshall was just the deeper team, though, and even were playing without their leading scorer. #21 has arms like Tashaun Prince and probably could touch the floor while standing up straight. Nice dunks!

I was surprised that twice in the last 30 seconds Rogers was coming out of timeouts and managed two terrible shots. I and those around me could not believe they couldn't get a better shot off either time. I personally think whoever won that game was going to beat SVSM. However, I have not seen Thurgood Marshall play other than yesterday. If they play like a TEAM like they did yesterday even with their leading scorer back, they'll be tough. But if their leading scorer tries to do too much, it might actually hurt them. I'm not sure, though, since I've only seen them play once. Good luck to Marshall! I'll be wearing purple.
