First AP poll released

thePITmanI have seen both Manchester and Hillsdale play (DIII), and Hillsdale would be ahead of Manchester, in my opinion. I would probably have Hillsdale a top 8 team and Manchester around 10-14.
-
OQBThey need to rename this poll from the AP Poll to the BS Poll, cause that is exactly what it is.
-
madman11wow...kinda shocked to see southern in there......saw them a few times over the summer and they didn't look like a great team. guess thats why its summer ball
-
Mr. RussellOrrQB, I agree with most of your posts, but I'll have to disagree with this one. For such a large state, I think that state polls give a good representation of the teams state-wide. Sure the top team doesn't always win the tournament, but that doesn't mean they don't deserve some recognition. I know it really meant a lot to us my senior year, although we didn't win the tournament, we felt as if our ranking was deserved.
-
riders1Seen Manchester twice and I agree with pit, they are definitely rated way to high, Hillsdale should be ahead of them and so should most below them such as Garaway who I saw beat a very good Hiland team. Manchester seems to get votes in the polls but isn't worthy of the ranking this year.
-
OQBMr. Russell, absolutely it's a great honor to be ranked and recognized for your teams success and I agree with you for that point....I just think they use blinders sometimes and overlook teams, but hey we all make mistakes lol. I just think overall when it comes tourny time you can throw the AP Poll out the window, because when it comes down to it, being ranked won't win you a trophy on the court/field.
I was All-Ohio my senior year in football, and yes it is a great honor, but do we need 3 different teams AND honorable mention AND special mention too? Why not let everyone be all-ohio? -

We're very familiar with that.

Preach it, brother! -
jenna8Manchester has a tremendous senior class that has been successful at every level. Don't mind where they are ranked. Let's see how they do against Timken and then make a judgement. Hillsdale is very comparable, the success this senior class has had is not something i would take lightly. Senoirs are who lead team sports most of the time got to love these teams chances to keep succeeding from here on out.
-
Mr. RussellI'll agree with that OrrQb. My dad always says, back in my day when I was All-Ohio, we only had three classes and three teams haha. It is indeed watered down now.

wildcats20Nice to see 3 Columbus area(Westerville South, Gahanna, Northland) schools in the top 10.
-
wes_mantooth^^Wasn't Westerville South a top ten team last year?
-
september63Massillon Jackson wont be in the top 10 by seasons end!! Mark that down.

Zanesville plays them tomorrow. Are they not that good? Or what makes you say that? -

not that the kids are playing, but that Freshman class is legit!! My kid played against them a couple years back and I was amazed.
I am assuming that some of them are on JV if not varsity. -
september63They are a good team. IMO just nowhere near the #1 team in Ohio at this point!!
-

Roster....They have 3 non seniors on the team. Recognize any of the names?wes_mantooth;638705 wrote:not that the kids are playing, but that Freshman class is legit!! My kid played against them a couple years back and I was amazed.

They sent a couple kids to MAC schools after winning the state title last year. -
wes_mantoothno, I didn't really pay attention to the names...they were just an unbelievable team. I think they were 7th graders when I saw them..
-
ohbuckeye1D3 #5 Oak Hill dropped 2 straight over the weekend. They lost to Lucasville Valley and the Fairland Dragons dropping their record to 8-2.

Did they look like the #1 to you? I knew they were not as good as that ranking!! -

They are way overrated. All they do is shoot the 3. If that isn't falling for them its gonna be a long night for them. I don't think that they had seen defense like Zanesville played before either. If they are gonna repeat as state champs, they have a lot of work. -

Lost again to NC Hoover 60-48. Makes them 0-2 since my post and surely out of the top 10!! -

As the early polls were releases I said (2) teams were vastly overrated. At the time Jackson was #1 Div I and Carrollton was #2 in Div II. I said Jackson wouldnt make the top ten and Carrollton would fail to make the regionals.
