Carrollton Warriors 2010-2011

LocoEngineer66Watched Carrollton the other night in the foundation game against GlenOak. They didn't look too bad. Our boys need to learn to follow shots more often. They shoot and start dropping back on D. Got a little work to do but I think they will be ok.

LocoEngineer66Looked pretty good against Claymont tonight. Even though it wasn't the best competition, our defense was going 100 mph. getting a hand on almost every pass it seemed like. They must have forced 30 Claymont turnovers.

LocoEngineer66Next game tomorrow night 12/7 at home against East Liverpool.

LocoEngineer66Looked pretty good again this game. I am glad Lowdermilk will be back Friday night. Once Smith fouled out we had a heck of a time getting the ball up court. Other than that the defense looked real good again forcing turnovers. Maybe that is going to be their MO this year. Tough test Friday night @ Louisville. I am sure they want payback for us beating them at home last year. Keep it rollin boys!!!!!!

LocoEngineer66Carrollton 68 Louisville 62
Defense, defense, defense!!! Our Warriors looked good again tonight. We were the better team. Played great defense and we only committed like 10 fouls the whole game including only two in the first half. Still turning the ball over too much though. Lowdermilk and Sheets came up big tonight with 28 and 15 respectively. On to Aquinas at home next Tuesday night. -

You call giving up 62 points a good defensive game? -

I was wondering the same thing. 62 points is not good defense. -
fpfpdadchhHolding a very good Louisville team to 62 is pretty good. 62 points is really pretty much slow down basketball. Look at the Barberton teams in the mid 70's that averaged 101 points a game throughout a two year stretch when they went 53-1 with 1 state championship and 1 state runners-up. Alliance played Barberton in the last game of the 76-77 season and lost 90-35. Alliance was celebrating like they won the game because they broke Barberton's 100 point streak. And this was before the 3 point shots were in HS basketball.

There's your defense in 2010-11. -
LocoEngineer66You have to watch a game to know what was good and what was not. Your two examples could be taken as four teams that have horrible offense and can't score 62. All depends on the pace of the game and the caliber of the teams playing. I think you are just trying to make me look bad or trying get an argument or debate going. I am not going to argue with you. I would venture to guess that not too many teams are going to hold Louisville to 62 points this year. But if I am wrong it won't be the last time.

fpfpdadchhHoldingout, thats just boring basketball, in my opinion. What is fun about watching that low scoring type of game? What was the field goal percentages of those teams, 30 percent from the field? I would rather see 2 teams light it up and use their defense to create fast break opportunities off the steal any day. I guess I was used to that type of basketball.

How many state titles have Carrollton won?.......How many state title have hiland and West Holmes won?.......Thank you.
Are you too young to remember the old saying "Offense wins games, defense wins championships"? -

What the heck does how many state titles a team has won have to do with the way they played in one game. Take your idiocy somewhere else. You know nothing about Carrollton or Louisville. I don't come on your Hiland & West Holmes threads and knock your teams.holdingout;600857 wrote:How many state titles have Carrollton won?.......How many state title have hiland and West Holmes won?.......Thank you.

I apologize if I offended you or the Carrollton team. That wasn't my intent. The point I was trying to make was the game of basketball has really changed, when one considers a team surrendering 60 points in a game being a good defensive effort. I haven't any ties to West Holmes or Hiland either. Good luck to Carrollton the rest of the season. -
LocoEngineer66Ughhhhh ... no idea why I have such a short fuse lately.
-
fpfpdadchhThe old Barberton teams I was mentioning used spectacular defense using constant full court pressing to create steals and turnovers to get easy fast break points. Coach Greynolds would scream at his players when they were lazy on defense.

LocoEngineer6662-57 Carrollton ... 4-0 !!! Good game for our Warriors tonight. Shouldn't have been as close as it was if we would have made free throws. I don't think we shot 50% from the line.
-
LocoEngineer66Carrollton 67 West Branch 33 .... does this mean I can say we played good defense without being questioned????
