CC Banquet
-
Never Too FarWe had the CC banquet last night.
Always inspirational.
We left the hall around 9:00 or so, and I was so motivated and fired up to go for a run.
I think maybe when my youngest is a senior, I might have to run home from the banquet.
This is our 6th year of the banquet, and I sure will miss it when my family is done running for the high school.
Looking forward to Track season. -
stationrunNice to see you over here Never Too Far!!
My youngest son's high school banquet is next week and my daughter's college banquet the Sunday after Thanksgiving. The last two I will ever attend as my son won't run in college and doesn't do track and my daughter will graduate from college in December, a half year early. I have a feeling that this Saturday when I watch my daughter run her last meet at the D-III Great Lakes Regional that I'm going to really struggle with the fact that after 10 years of watching her run it is all over!! -
orangechik00Congratulatons to both your son and daughter, stationrun. Good luck to your daughter and her team on Saturday.

I can feel the emotion from this post.
Hang on to those memories and enjoy this Saturday. -
Never Too FarDo you think that she will be done with running forever after this meet?
For myself, I am looking forward to some day when they will retire from running for a school, as then we will be able to travel and run some events together.
I agree that it will be mixed emotions when their jerseys are hung up, but I want to be able to toe the line with them and share the experience with them as well.
I already dream of getting to spend time in the mountains running ultras and spending the rest of my years chasing them in events around the country.
SR, enjoy your time at the meet.
My oldest son will also be running at the meet, but sadly I won't be there to watch him run.
My wife is the RD for a new first time event, a 4 mile run to support our local Academic Boosters, and I need to be there to help her pull it off.
Give a cheer when the Akron Men go by for me, I would appreciate it. -
Swamp FoxCross-country is the best sport there is.

GymshoeGreat thread. NTF and Stationrun, I too will be attending my last CC banquet this week as my son is a senior. In many ways, I will be glad to see it come to a close. Those 5 am wakeups on Sat. and the struggle to get my son to the bus on time will not be missed. What I will miss are the great life lessons my son learned & all the great people I met over the last 6 seasons. I'm sure it won't hit me that it's truly over until I read in the paper the results from the first race next season........then all those good memories will come flooding back. Swamp Fox, no doubt about it, CC is the best sport ever invented.

Couldn't agree more!!! Funny thing is until my daughter started running track in 7th grade I had never seen a track meet in my life, nor did I care to. When she helped start our high school's cross country program in her sophomore year of high school I had no idea what cross country even was. Now I'm going to miss seeing her run both, but especially cross country!! -
