Ohio Cardinal Confernce- Who are the contenders?

  • Flash
Orrville and West Holmes should be at the top again. Orrville returns most of their scorers and loses a defender and West Holmes is much the same, but will be adding a super freshman. Wooster and Mansfield Senior will battle it out for the other top spots. Mahan from Senior will be a force again and needs only a little help to get wins. Whats everyone else think?

    Wooster or Orrville

I think you're right, West Holmes and Orrville will both be at the top. Mansfield Sr. could be good, time will tell. Wooster has a new coach who has been around the program, so I think they will have no problem adapting to his style. Clear Fork, Ashland, Lexington and Madison will struggle in my opinion. Good luck to all of the teams on a successful season.

West Holmes will be my pick to win it this year. They'll have the defense that can limit Orrville this year, and should have a few more weapons on offense with the freshman coming into the programs. Now, we have to play the games, but both games last year were nailbiters if I remember right.

The Knights could have something very special this year, but look out in another 2-3 years....this is gonna be fun to watch.

I agree 300. I can't pick against the Riders, but we were lucky in winning those games last year. Dont know what to make of Wooster. Some good players, but didn't do as well last year as I thought. Maybe new coach will change that. Doesn't have a lot of team height as I remember, but we'll see.

West Holmes and Orrville at the top and then everbody else. Wooster with Coach Baus could make some noise. Mahan is a force at Senior, but I'm not sure she will get much help.

Nah.....Hiland can and always will find room for a transfer.....just hit up the Mast brothers. They're good for it all. Just ask Theresa. :)

WH girls are in Columbus today for a scrimmage. Might know a little after today but not much. H Moniger has also decided to drop off the team.

That will happen as the the older girls see the writing on the wall. There are only so many spots for playing time. Only 5 can play at one time. Has to be the hardest for the coach to take as well as the player and parents. Had a daughter who could see it was going to be too, much heartbreak and decided to not go out, but she volunteered to help at the Jr, high level. I was really proud of her that she took the high road and decided to give back to the sport she loved.

Talked to one of the so-called "gurus" of Ohio girls basketball the other day. Guru said Hiland would finish 17-3 with one of their losses to... the West Holmes Lady Knights. :(

    Others to Northmont and Africentric?

West Holmes opens tomorrow night against Tri-Valley. Last year Tri-Valley was very good, not sure how many seniors, but they were fun to watch. West Holmes should take this one, but you never know.
  • Mr. 300
Tri-Valley lost a lot of seniors. Knights will have a mix of 2 Sr's on the floor and then soph's and frosh. I look for the first few games to be a little rough for the Knights until coach P can find a rotation that works.

Wasn't rough last night as the Knights roll.

At times it was. Turnovers plagued the young Knights, but at times they had 1 Sr 1 So and 3 frosh on the floor. I expected the sloppy play that took place, but also liked how the young kids bring the energy and athleticism to both sides of the ball. They forced TV into 30+ TO's, but the Lady Scotties are young themselves. Good first game, but a lot of room to improve. Up next a good Triway squad.
