Treaty City (Greenville) Inv. time changes
-
orangechik00Just received my Greenville info today. They've moved the JV races to the beginning of the morning starting at 8:30 a.m. and the middle school races will be at the end of the day, (11:30 girls & 12:00 boys). I'm glad my JV girls can run early but that means we'll be stuck with the middle school kids all morning.

orangechik00And miss all the fun?

said_aouitaI gotta ask, why wouldn't MU head to this meet? A nice big invite practically in your back yard?
-
orangechik00My husband told me he heard through the grapevine that the course is changing this year. Something about starting in the opposite direction? Can anybody verify this for me?
-
said_aouitaI think I'm heading a tad farther West this weekend. Think I'm going to Lavern Gibson for the Indiana state preview.

friendfromlowryWow ccrunner, can't believe you 'cheated' the kids of the experience. I always loved that invite. Great & fast course, tons of runners -- just a fun meet.
I know you started to lean towards that train first, race second philosophy towards my senior year (I think we went 3-4 weeks without a race) and I'll never question your methods, but that's a hell of a good meet to make them skip out on. -
pat22I never really understood the whole training through meets. Unless you have a kid that is so exceptional they have to "peak" at a certain time, I agree with lowry. Let them run! Today was a perfect day to run and apparently the course was fast. You won't find many meets any nicer than the Treaty. And if Ed Porter is the meet director, it will continue to be great. I just don't think you will ruin a kids season by letting them run a 5k at this time of the year. Any kid worth their salt is already in "Game shape". I think it is even worse in track. I just can't believe that having a kid run 2 meets in a week is going to be bad for them. i always heard you may have 2 great races in you a year. How do you know that the meet you skip isn't the one when a kid pr's? Just my opinion from a race fan. Any comments 609?

friendfromlowryWell ccrunner's boys team is pretty exceptional this year, maybe the best since back in 2004. So I know he's aiming for them to peak late in October...
I was speaking more on Greenville itself. This meet is probably one of the best Ohio has to offer and is probably one that when athletes look at the schedule and see Greenville, they know they're in for an exciting time. If it was any other mundane meet, for example like Cedarville or the Firebird, then I don't see the problem. And obviously if your team is toeing the line at Scioto Downs, then you know you did the right thing and ultimately got to top goal.
But Greenville's a great meet -- definitely a unique experience I wouldn't wanted to have missed back in the day. -
pat22I will agree with you that Greenville is the BEST meet in SW Ohio. I do think the competition is a little watered down from what I can see. No Colerain or Springboro in the girls division and no Lasalle in the boys as well as other teams from the Cincy area. If they keep doing what they are doing it will get back to the level it was 4-5 years ago. I heard they had 1850 runners. It has to be one the biggest meets in Ohio.

said_aouitaI agree with ya racing and times right now mean very little 609. I wonder if one Saturday practice at the beginning of season outweighs such a highly competitive meet.
