Arlington Coach Kyle Rogers passes away

  • ferflog
Kyle Rogers, 50, longtime coach at Arlington High School near Findlay, died on Friday of an apparent heart attack. Kyle had most recently coached the girls varsity basketball team at Arlington, but he previously had coached both the track team and boys varsity basketball team. Coach Rogers has taught social studies at Arlington for the past 27 years, and I am sure that he has touched many lives.

Kyle is a graduate of Kenton High School and Ohio Northern University, where he played basketball. He also worked ONU's summer basketball camps for many years under Coaches Gale Daugherty, Joe Campoli, and Jeff Coleman.

I spent many an ONU camp night with Kyle. He had a tremendous wit and was certainly fun to be around. I will miss my friend. Rest in peace, Kyle; you certainly earned it.

Prayers to the Rogers family from Cambridge and Meadowbrook High School.

I knew Kyle as well. Great guy. Always knew how to get a laugh out of you. Way too young.

50 is too young. So much can factor into sudden cardiac death, but one has to wonder what the stress of coaching has to do with it. On the other hand, John Wooden lived to 99. Regardless, my condolences to the family and community. Sounds like he was one of the very good people in coaching.
