i attended this district on tuesday the 18th and was amazed at how poorly run this meet was.running events were supposed to start at 4pm but were delayed at least an hour when they discovered the FAT timing system was not working and had to have another timing camera brought in from Dublin, while this was going on they used hand timing for the prelims..then,after that it just went south, poorly run check in area and then way too much down time between events/heats.the last running event ended at 11:15 pm. many schools probably did not get home until way past midnight, especially marrietta who had at least a 2 hour drive home and then get kids up for school on time and then come back again today.Div. 1 d-4 had 14 girls teams entered while the Div. 2 girls teams had 30.the best part was in the boys shot put finals it was discoveered that the boys used a girls 8 lb. shot to throw with and then had to throw again with a 12 lb. shot. they were still throwing at 11pm. i hope todays field events and running events are better managed as well as the finals that will be contested on saturday.

    1. Why can't you run hand times for the races while waiting. The advancement requirement is top 4 in each heat, not times (100,200 and 100/110H). Even lane assignments for advancers is by where they placed, not times. The 4x800 also could have even ben run without a problem.

The meet manager should have been able to explain this to the coaches and run it with timers and pickers. The only events that it would have made a difference in are the ones that were advancement by time. By the time those would have been ran the camera could have been fixed. **make a decision and get the job done right**

    2. The shot put ordeal sounds fishy. A coach attending the meet told me that one of the regional advancers fouled his first 3 throws and then, as if by magic, an 8 lb. shot appeared in the competition the following flight, which someone threw. All the people in the previous flight got to re-throw their 3 and the kid that originally fouled 3 throws made finals, and then was top 4. Talk about a lucky break.

You can take top 2 in each heat to make your final 8. Very hard to take top so many places and then go to the next fastest times when you have hand timed semi's.

Sounds like cheating in the shot.
There were enough in this district for it to work, but you are correct about the mess hand times make for advancement.
