Is Stanford this year's USC?
-
sleeperNow hear me out...
Stanford is the only good team on ND's schedule this year. They will probably be undefeated heading into South Bend and it's a guarantee that Stanford is going to win. Now, Notre Dame fans are desperate to find their coach Tressel, or in other words, a coach that's actually good and not hyped up by the media.
The question is, if the Stanford loss is close, does ND reward BK with a 10 year contract? Normally, a program would only award coaches on wins, but ND is the only program in history that awards coaches by how much they lose, rather than how much they win.
Thoughts? -

They don't play in South Bend. -

LOL. Another lame attempt at trolling capped off by inaccurate information. -

I was just wondering how long the OSU coach at that time stayed and if he ever topped that win/tie. Who was the president then? The Ohio State president remarked after the 13-13 tie against Michigan in 1992 that "a tie is one of our greatest wins ever." -
sleeperPraising a tie and giving a 10 year contract for a loss is entirely different. Not sure where you were going with that, but they are two different things.

True. I forgot that Cooper's extension actually came the year before, after he continued his winless streak both against Michigan (which is why the tie appeared to be so great) and in bowl games (one of those was to Air Force). But it was only a 4 year extension. -

Exactly. A 4 year extension screams "While you're not up to par for The Ohio State University, we'd like to give you a chance to be successful both on and off the field". A 10 year contract screams "We don't know what we are doing, but the fans seem to think you're the real deal, we love having close losses, we are ND". -

Well said. -
Little DannySeems to be this post is about ND/OSU and not Stanford.
I think the Cardinal is not as good as hyped this year. First year with a new head coach is going to cause them headaches IMO. I see a 7-5 type season. -

Hmmm, what was your first clue? -

It's not about OSU. Only the trolls brought OSU into this situation. I don't want another thread to talk about OSU/ND, they are 2 completely different programs. One is in complete shambles with one of the worst coaches riddled with scandals, the other is Ohio State. -

Not if they lose when they come down to Tucson. Upset special. Either Stanford or Oregon will leave Tucson with a loss. -

reading who started the thread. -

Actually, you referenced OSU in your first paragraph when you mentioned the guy who is two months removed from being their coach. I was merely correcting the bolded part as there is at least one other example in history of a school who extended a loser's contract.

Big GainIf "Stanford is this year's USC" it means they will lose a game to one of the worst teams on their schedule. A team much worse than Notre Dame.

DeyDurkie5I love how funny these notre dame homers are. They constantly criticize sleeper for these posts, knowing that he is just trolling, and still responds to them. You guys look more retarded than anyone else.

Fly4FunSeeing as this thread is a giant troll... and Sleeper technically isn't allowed to post on ND threads. And this thread is primarily about ND. I'm going to move it to the basement.

And you used to respond to Capone/Modell when he was on here.....knowing that he was just trolling. So nice job taking others to task for stuff that you're guilty of. -
jordo212000USC was banned from postseason play for 2 years, and there is a decent chance that that could happen to Ohio State this year. So you could maybe make the point that Ohio State is this year's USC?
