Almost always. The book "Jaws" was dreadful, for example.wkfan wrote:

I gave it a '9'...it was a little cheesy...but a good movie. -

ernest_t_bassHow many of you think that this family actually had Ole Miss in mind when they took this kid in? Seriously? When that part of the movie came up, it all made sense. Then, when Miss Sue ends up "getting an apartment" near the Ole Miss campus...

SpeedofsandI liked the part where they played 'How high the moon' by Les Paul & Mary Ford.

HereticThe Blind Side: the inspirational story of some kid who got taken in by a family and went on to football success, which has led to him being drafted and playing for the Baltimore Ravens, meaning that on this site (where most of the NFL fans root for AFC North teams that aren't Baltimore), everyone involved in this film and the real-life events is a piece of shit.

I generally agree with this. I thought the movie itself was pretty good, but it was only loosely based on the actual story, from what I've read.ksig489 wrote: The movie was awful due to the fact that there was so much of the story changed for the screen. This wasn't the Michael Oher story. This was a cheesy football movie that used the character name Michael Oher to market the movie. The 15 minute glossed over version of the illegal recruiting was quite funny. There was a lot more to that according to what I have read.
This movie was made for 2 reasons:
1. Try to win Sandra Bullock an award (which she will never deserve because she is an awful actress)
2. Try to make the woman look like she did all of this out of the kindness of her heart and not with dollar signs in here eyes. -
cat_loverSolid movie,not great but not a clunker.

I dunno if they had dollar signs in her eyes, they were already quite independently wealthy. North of $15 million NET worth I believe.ksig489 wrote:

I knew some rich kids who had private tutors bankrolled by the parents who got apartments close by when they went to college.ernest_t_bass wrote: How many of you think that this family actually had Ole Miss in mind when they took this kid in? tuskytuffguyI love it when people say a movie that is based on a true story is "too Hollywood" or "too over the top." It shows what a real moron you are judging movies. If movies were made like a book or didn't have a "hollywood" splash, then they would be utterly boring and noone would watch them.
