need some advice - job promotions/hiring in house
-
derek bomarso a new position within my company is likely to be posted in the next few weeks, and my boss wants me for the job, but it's her boss (Finance VP) who would make the call...I called him Friday to let him know I would be interested in it, and he called back to tell me he'll be in town Tuesday and he'd try and make some time for me to talk about the position and answer questions I had about it.
I guess what questions should I prepare to ask him? How do I sell myself to someone who already knows a lot about the work I do and probably already has an idea of whether or not he'd want to hire me? The only real question I would have would be if it would require relocation, because if it did, I wouldn't be interested at the moment. -
darbypitcher22Whatever happens, good luck with all of this.
Just show that you're knowledgeable about the duties and responsibilities that go along with said position. It would probably help if possible to familiarize yourself with the current challenges and things facing that person. -

thing is, it's a brand new position...basically I'd be taking some of the responsibility away from a dude in another Region because he's overburdened at the moment, but the position I would take really doesn't exist right now. I think I understand pretty well what that guy currently does and feel I'd be good at it...so I guess that's a good thing.darbypitcher22 wrote: Whatever happens, good luck with all of this.

I would sure hope so...I haven't discussed salary or relocation or really any job specifics yet because it hasn't been posted to our job board...but basically my boss is pushing me so I'm pretty sure im the preferred choice...If there's no raise though I'd be inclined to just say GFY and keep doin what I'm doindarbypitcher22 wrote: are you getting a pay raise?
