Ever measure your biceps?

  • sonofsam
    17 1/2"

First time I have ever measured them... Would have guessed closer to 16".

I'm big in the only muscle that truly matters.

Unlike "LTrain", I don't measure much of anything anymore.

    Mine are unmeasurable.

They make smaller tape measure, you know. I have one that measures my wrist. Would be good for your biceps.

I did once, when I was like 12. Back when stuff like that mattered to me.

Back when I was into bodybuilding, yes. I also measured arms, chest, thighs, waist, etc to guage my progress when I was doing the two rounds of P90X.

Why do you ask if others have measured? Would it make you feel better about you choosing to have measured your biceps? Does it really matter if others have or have not?

If you are happy you measured your biceps then it really doesn't matter if others have measured theirs or not.

I still work out six days a week but have tweeked it considerably. I won't be doing any more full rounds of P90X because I can't see the long-term sustainability of the program. I think a person may be able to do 2-3 rounds but then burnout sets in. The body wasn't made for that long-term torque/impact from the plyo, imo. There's a reason (besides obviously money) that Beachbody is constantly coming out with new dvd's (P90X...then P90X Plus...then Insanity, etc) all of the time...the chance that the workout will get stale.

I still use P90X principles and some of the dvd's (Interval X+, Kenpo/Cardio X+...along with adding some Insanity dvd's in the future).

Don't take this in that I don't think that P90X isn't an awesome program, because it is. There's a reason it's called P "NINETY" X. It was designed for people in decent shape to do for NINETY days, get themselves in the BEST shape possible, and then move on.

Right now I train mega-heavy two days per week, walk long distances 3x's per week, do a couple of the P90X dvd's for more intense cardio 2x's per week and run sprints every 7-10 days.

I've modified my eating to more of a caveman approach (high protein, omega-3's, fruits/veggies, various nuts (almonds, cashews, walnuts, etc) with NO grains/sugars whatsoever). It's called the "Primal Blueprint."

Suprisingly on this low carb/high protein eating regimen my energy is through the roof and the bodyfat is shedding.

At the age of 42, short of hormone therapy, this body won't be packing on too much more "quality muscle" anytime soon. Hence the 'when I was into bodybuilding" comment. Still follow it, just no desire to compete or anything like that.

Glad to hear that. I thought maybe an injury came back again.

I modified my workout a while back also. I've modified the legs and back to include chest, but stripped it down not to include all the leg and back segments. I'll do the shoulders and arms to a T. I do plyo & yoga once a week. I also get one more cardio in. I was not looking to add large mass, just enough to burn the fat, I am more into the cardio portion of the routine.

I never did P90x diet. Just try to stay away from non-100% whole grains and sugars.

I just got tired of not being able to lift really heavy weights. I was going as heavy as possible with the P90X workouts but you can't handle near the weight that you can doing a more conventional routine. So now you can only imagine how much weight I use on dips between benches on tricep day. ;)

I still integrate pushups into my chest routine but completely dropped the pullups. When I'd do pullups I thought I was going to rip my left bicep from it's insertion.

36" waist... I am sexy, but I am not into young lads that are "strapping" so keep hanging out in the schools looking for your boy toy.
