Severe weather is right around the corner. I was killing some time looking at my county and a few of the surrounding.

This tornado was crazy. It started right across the street from my parents' farm. We had the windows open and were sitting around thinking "wtf is that noise, sounds like a train". No tornado warnings or anything. Power went out. Got up the next morning and went up the 1/4 mile driveway to the road to see a high tension power line tower twisted all the way to the ground. Crazy

I basically drove through this one on the way home from school that day. I drove right down Central College road as it was happening.

LJ, I remember those in 2006 they were nasty up that way. Just a tiny little cell but thats all you need when the ingredients are right.

yeah that whole year was nasty. I can remember standing outside my condo and taking pictures of the sky to the west at least 4 or 5 times that summer.

It shows we have only had 3 tornadoes here in Jefferson Co. since the late 50's. I guess this area ain't to bad to live in lol

Question...what does "generating large missiles" refer to on F4 &F5? That doesn't make sense to me...unless they're just talking about flying debris...

    FIRE ZE MISSILES!!!

This tornado came VERY close to my brothers house just outside of VanWert Oh in 2002. A pretty devastating storm. To this day, my brother and others in the area cringe when they see a dark cloud.

Yes it was..I went over to bros house a day or 2 later and was amazed at the wide swath this one made. A house not more than 75 yds from his house was completely gone while brothers house only had a few shingles missing....Then we went around the corner (bout a mile from his house) and a woods that I remember , maybe 1/4 mile long...was gone...just splinters left..... unbelievable

I remember that tornado that hit Franklin County in 2006. I was living near campus then, and while the tornado didn't touchdown in Columbus, we had 1" hail, downed trees, and about 2" of rain in 20 minutes, which caused huge street flooding all over.

Probably the most "underrated" tornado in Ohio was the F5 tornado that hit Niles/Warren in 1985. I was a few months away from being born, but my parents remember that day vividly. The tornado completely destroyed my dad's work at the time and went through his hometown. This website, http://www.may311985tornadoes.com/, gives a great recap of that tornado.

I assume the F5 in Greene County is the infamous Xenia twister?

    $250 million in damage, damn!
