Chiropractic and Electrical Help

  • ernest_t_bass
Figured I would just put them both in one thread to save me some hassle, and YOU some hassle.

    Chiropractic:
Lower, lower back. Damn near in my ass. Hurt my back while sitting on a hardwood floor. Question. What is the best way to crack that park of your back? Any way to do it? Or is a chiropractic visit in need?

    Electrical:
Is it possible to replace rusted coils for batteries? Have a baby swing where my wife was smart enough to leave the D-batteries in over a few years. The negative (-) coils on two of them have rusted. They still useable? Swing obviously won't work now.

How badly are the coils rusted? Can you clean them with some steel wool and get the contacts to work?

You can clean the terminal off but the battery is prolly drained.

chiropractic (or as the hilljacks say "choir-practic")

Instead of just "cracking" your back, you need to strengthen your abs and back by doing some exercises. Try doing some Straight leg sit-ups, leg lifts, and standing toe touches. Some yoga might be beneficial, do the praying mantice thing.

    electrical
HMM... why did the wife remove the batteries. She have a waterpick?

    We don't usually prescribe chiropractors.

    LOL... no shit.

Chiropractors are kooks IMO unless they have actual medical training. There are some who have gone to med school then chiropractor school that can prescribe meds and such, those are the only ones I would go to.

Chiropractors who treat acute injuries are personal injury lawyers best friends. There is no reason why someone with a case of whiplash from $500 fender bender needs to treat 3x a week for three months at a tune of $5-10K. Interestingly, if a I strained my neck due to my own negligence I would only need a few chiropractic adjustmets (or as many visits as my health insurance would allow).

any pain down the leg or weakness? I had something like that..pinched nerve.

    sucked.

I started going 18 months ago to a chiro. Never had been before...thought was a joke...but now I love it. It wasa 3-4 times a week when i started because of the issue but now Im every two months. Slowly extended it out to longer and longer between visists. PLus they can do things you wouldnt do at home other than just cracking it.

I think that all Chiropractors go to Chiropractic college. DO's go to medical school and are able to give chiropractic adjustments as well as prescribe meds.

Anyways, I'm not sold on chiropractors but I think that there is a place for them in medicine. I know that they use alot of the same therapies that PT's use and more and more insurance companies are starting to cover their services.

Then why did you ask? You posed as if the batteries were fine and just needed the rust knocked off the negative coil.

If you're asking if the spring can be replaced, then no it can't..you'll never find another one.. Just try to get the rust off.

They do. The top school in the country has admission requirements that make Columbus State laugh.

For every story like this there is one of a MD being responsible for the death or illness of a patient. These things go both ways.

As far as chiropractic college goes, the admission standards arent nearly as easy as some people think. Most of the top school require at least a 3.0 gpa coming out of undergrad.

Only reason I know this stuff is because I had to do a presentation on "alternative medicine" a few years back. I found out alot about the proffession, those guys are bringing in some serious cash as well

The one in St. Louis was 2.75 GPA from any accredited 4 year college with any undergrad degree. They lowered it from 3.0 because admissions were down. I called there a few months ago because there is a around here Chiropractor that thinks he is a MD. They do make a ton of money though.

On the other hand the average Vet School GPA is 3.53 with a specialized undergrad degree, many extracurriculars, a face to face interview, and many already have Master's degrees.

Average Med school GPA is 3.6

Call me weird, but we do 'alternative medicine' with acupuncture, but I don't get the whole chiropractic thing. People can really get hurt by the procedures by folks that may or may not have a lot of training. I don't think our acupuncturist will win any Rhodes Scholar awards but it is very difficult to get terribly injured by tiny needles. Even if the therapeutic affect is mental it is still 2 hours a week I can decompress.

Well..I don't know of any MD's that are responsible for a family member being in a wheelchair..so..I'll go with the MD.

LOL... Well, I guess I forgot to add the part where the batteries were toast. They were 4 years old, lol.
