  • sportchampps
Will be the first time I've been to St Louis. What is there to do and where should we eat. Any Advice. We got tickets for all sessions so we wil be there friday thru sunday.

Uhhh, duh, go up the Arch! 300 feet up, can see 30 miles to the east and to the west. The hard part is the tiny capules that they cram people in for the ride from bottom to top and back again.

Watch some travel channel...it seems like have the shows they do feature bbq joints from St Louis.

Go to the Budweiser brewery (Anheuser-Busch tours)

Went down there for a Browns game 3 years agoand spent the weekend.

There are also casinos across the state line in Illinois

If you go to the Arch, try to go earlier in the morning. We went last summer and had no trouble going right to the top at 10 or so in the morning. By the time we came back down and walked around a bit, the line was huge to get to the top. The Zoo was pretty nice too, and I believe the admission was free.

St. Louis sucks...but I'd be happy to buy your tickets just so you don't waste a whole weekend in Missouri.:D:D:D

Just an FYI East St Louis is one of the most dangerous cities in the country if not THE most dangerous. Their murder rate is ridiculous.

I would like to catch a budweiser factory tour and see the arch for sure. Anyone know any good places to stay around the area

I heard East St. Louis has some really good deals on rooms right now I would check them out first. Or check Orbitz or something they will also give you reviews.

10,000 gangsters in St. Louis according to the tv show I saw the other nite. Boys of Destruction and Horseshoe Posse are the biggest.

A great deal if you don't care if your room has no door, is riddled with bullet holes and has a parking lot filled with whores and drug dealers.

I was in St. Louis a few years ago for a bio-fuels conference for work, there was a great little Italian joint down town.

Caleco's Bar and Grill, great Fettucine Alfredo, especially if you get it with the cajun chicken (spicy italian food is great).

We stayed at the Adam's Mark hotel, great pool on the top floor that is looking out at the Arch.

Edit: Oh, and the others are correct, don't go to East St. Louis unless you absolutely have to. It is one of the worst cities in America.

This is St. Louis! You don't go to St. Louis and eat Italian, you go to St. Louis and eat BBQ. St. Louis is the home of the BBQ rib! Get online, find the best BBQ place and town, order a full slab, and enjoy! Then stop in at any other good looking BBQ joint you see during the weekend and fill up on pork.

East St. Louis is actually on the Illinois side of the river. The gangs also referanced above are generally in the N.W. part of the city. Union Station area is nice, while I've heard "The Landing" area has gotten pretty rough. There are some nicer clubs around the Adams Mark hotel also. The casino's on the Illinois side are a little north of east St. Louis. The drive there may be interesting, though...lol.

Added little trivia....the scene from Family Vacation where Chevy Chase and his family accidently drive down into East St. Louis is for real. Except the exit that this happens is when you are traveling back to the east side from Missouri. Just as you cross the river heading east, make sure you get to the left. If you get stuck in the right lane and there is a lot of traffic, you will get a scenic drive through EAST St. Louis. They will not let you over.....also, there is not an on ramp or any other means to get back on the interstate for another several blocks, I wouldn't advise asking for directions either....drive windows up, don't stop for lights or stop signs, with any luck you'll get a cop to escort you back to the interstate. Other than that, St. Louis is a great town.

Caleco's and Laclede's Landing are great places to eat. There are Casino's within walking distance of the arch. Hooters downtown if you like that sort of thing.

Don't get me wrong, we ate at some great ribs places as well, but Caleco's had some great food as well.

Maybe its my weakness for good spicy italian dishes.

Laclede's Landing is also a great spot and plenty to do down in that area.
