Whats the craziest thing you have done to watch March Madness.

sportchamppsI love March Madness. The first two weekends of the tourny is my favorite time of the year. That being said I havent missed many games over the years. When I was in high school and able to drive the school nurse used to sign me out so I could go to BW3 and watch the games. She was a family friend and use to sign me out for all kinds of things as long as I took her son with me. In college I never took classes on fridays so I just skipped my thursdays classes to watch. Then I graduated and took a bartending job at a sports bar where I would watch Thursday's game then take the weekend off and watch the rest. Now that I have offically entered the real world I actually volunteered to lead a international meeting starting at 3AM so i would be off in time to see the games. So who else has gone to extreme lengths to watch March Madness. I know you exist becuase when I bartended we had lots of business meetings next to our tv's.

ernest_t_bassTurned on more than one TV

ytownfootballI have blown off everything before. Work, classes you name it. Not as realistic of a possibility these days, but I have disapponted more than a couple entities who depended on me in the past.

BigAppleBuckeyeI have done nothing too crazy, but I can tell you the lamest thing I have ever seen for March Madness -- when I lived in Columbus, I joined 5 of my work buddies in leaving work at noon to hit Damons to watch the games. We ran into another coworker there, who doesn't drink alcohol ... no biggie. But the guy sat at a bar for 8 hours drinking unlimited refills of Dr. Pepper, and only tipped the waitress 10 bucks (bear in mind the place was packed with people waiting for tables). We all made fun of him repeatedly for this ...

LeonardoMostly just left/didn't go to school.

Fab1bI have called into work in the past but when I am home, got the TV on and computers going for other live games. This year I have the NCAA March Madness App on my phone so I can watch all the games live here in my office tomorrow but Friday will be like a sportsbar in my house!!

krambmanNothing too crazy. When I was in high school I had several teachers who would either collect homework and give out the next assignment, then turn on the TV, or just cancel class all together. Some teachers did this all day, but almost every teacher would cancel class if Ohio State was playing. They also used to turn on the TV's in the library and cafeteria all day during the tournament. I once snuck a small radio in and had it in my ear during class while OSU was playing. The teacher didn't catch me till the game was almost over. I has the headphones covered but he caught on. Asked if I was listening to the game and I said no. A minute later he asked the score and I told him. There was 2 minutes left and it was tied so we turned it on. It was the year they lost to (I believe) Utah in the first round.
In college I would always take my laptop to school and watch games on it during class. I had a prof catch me once and he told me to turn it off or leave, so I started packing my things. When he asked what I was doing I said that there are somethings in life more important than school and that the NCAA tournament was one of them, and I left. If OSU was playing, I just skipped class in college to watch. -
wildcats20Not crazy, but our basketball coach in HS would let us sit in the coach's office or athletic office and watch the games during classes.

darbypitcher22Never did anything too crazy... used to have it on tv in the cafeteria during HS

bcubedAt one hospital I worked at a bunch of us guys sneaked into the surgery Dr's lounge to watch the championship game in 1994 when Arkansas won it. We only lasted in there the first quarter until we got kicked out of there. We then went to the tv out in front of our department waiting room (which was a risky high traffic area) and got caught by our 2nd shift boss. We told him there was nothing going on and that we had a pager for the girls to call us if there was anything to do, which he was fine with but he told us to go back to Nuclear Medicine and watch it there so nobody else would see us. We got to watch the rest of the game which was a very good one that year. Then we get to work the next day and get pulled into the office and get wrote up for it by the same boss that told us it was ok. Seems that the old wench surgery nurse that saw us complained to our Dept. Manager and she made our 2nd shift manager write us up. I guess he forgot to mention to her that he told us it was ok to watch the game. She didn't know it but she effectively neutered him after that we never would listen to him anymore.
