Myrtle Beach help

  • justcompete
I plan on taking the wife to Myrtle later this year. I could use some help on a hotel (on the beach). I have heard that south Myrtle has more action (bars, entertainment). I would like to park my car and leave it parked for the week. We like to hit bars at night and really enjoy live music. Can someone suggest something?

I have gone for many years, but the only wat to go and park is one of the newer resorts that have all amenities. The main drag is not nearly as nice as it used to be. We usually stayed south as well to stay away from the crowd. There are some really nice places to stay and eat in the Surfside/Murrels Inlet area. Let me know how I can help.

Look into renting a condo if you don't mind being a block off the beach. You may find a better deal and you will definitely have more amenities. We did that a few years ago and it totally paid off having the kitchen and laundry.

The price really isn't a problem. I am also looking for an area that has people/action. Best situation would be a hotel with a room looking out over the ocean. Also, a pool with a swim up bar. The only reason I mentioned south is because I was told north was more family oriented. The fewer kids, the better. I would not be opposed to one of the newer resorts, but they usually cater to families. Once again, the kid thing.

Is there more nightlife north or south?
How about bars on the beach?
Any resorts / condo's on the beach that stand out as really nice places?

    Great web site.
Have any of you stayed at any of these units before?

Have stayed at a couple of low rise condos in the N.Myrtle area (Cherry Grove). Once you stay at one of these you won't go back to the high rise hotels. These condos are only 3 stories with usually 12 - 15 units in them so the beach is not crowded. They have fully equipped kitchens and a washer and dryer in the unit. Nice places to stay.
