My oldest husky loves her some ground hogs as well. Who am I kidding. She hates anything that isn't another dog or human. Anything besides that that gets in the backyard..it's as good as dead.justhismom wrote: Jack Russell Terrier - Griffey is 11 1/2 years old and still hasn't met a raccoon or ground hog that he couldn't take. I keep trying to tell him that he is getting old and he should take it easy, but he won't listen.... -

They must be related - Griffey has been banned from my Mom's farm for life for killing her cat.GoChiefs wrote:

I think that's just pretty much the Husky breed. All of them I've been around have been like that. Loljusthismom wrote: They must be related - Griffey has been banned from my Mom's farm for life for killing her cat. -

That's all I will ever own from here on out. They are pretty good all around dogs. Loyal, active, smart and they scare the shit out of people b/c they think they look like wolves. Great dogs.

Yep..but what do ya expect? They are sled dogs..it's in their blood. Lol My parents had an underground fence to try to contain theirs...they just ran right through it. We have a big backyard for ours with a 6' privacy fence...so that keeps them in.killdeer wrote: had a husky...great dog, however.......could not contain her...she always wanted to run and run and run and run and run and run and run and run and run and run and run and run....

majorsparkDobermans would be my favorite. My wife brought home a schipperke over a year ago. I have taken quite a liking to her.

bigdaddy2003Any kind of Mastiff or St. Bernard.

dtdtimI have a pit bull (American) right now and I am amazed by what a wimp she is. Very affectionate, smart, and good with people. She also doesn't pay the slightest bit of attention to other dogs or animals in general when you walk her. She's scared to death of children, though. She acts like she's looking at the Antichrist whenever she walks (well, she tries to run) by one. Most don't realize she's a pit because her ears and tail were never cropped.
My dad has a Llewellyn (sp?) Setter. I guess its just a fancy name for an English Setter of some sort. It's a very pretty dog, but hyper and not very intelligent, at least imo. She's an amazing pointer/hunter though. I've seen her jump up and grab flying birds out of thin air on more than one occasion. I've also seen her run into a parked car as well and have to have stomach surgery because she ate my niece's glove. It's amazing how stupid and smart she is at the same time. -

Swamp FoxFirst of all, I know that we would probably take any dog home with us if it needed a home and we had the space, but my personal favorite is the Boxer. We have always had dogs and cats around (as well as more exotic animals), and the Boxer came along rather recently, but what great dogs they are. terrific with children, wonderfully loyal, love to play, filled with the devil. We have had three boxers and in my mind, that would be my first choice if we were to add another animal to our menagerie. My wife is as big an animal lover as I am but I'm quite sure that even though she loves our Boxer, her personal favorite would be her Pug. Also a fairly recent addition to our group, Abby is a sweet little dog, but would tear your heart out if you tried to take food away from her. She spends literally hours a day asleep in the crook of my wife's arm as they lounge on the Lazy Boy in our family room. We are hopelessly devoted to both these marvelous animals.

HeelzI can't say that one breed is better than another but my Golden is awsome! never had a problem with him, even when my kids pull on his tail or try to get into his food when he eats.
-
mtrulzI have no favorite, but I've had four labradors in my life. I have two of them right now.
-
Swamp FoxWe had a lab and he was a great dog. Heartworm got him before we even realized he was having trouble.
-
gerb131Love my pom pom and pitbull but labs rank high as well.
-
IggyPride00Don't have any dogs now, but I have had 7 Basset hounds through the course of my life (as many as 3 at one time) and while they are cute as could be they are dumb as the day is long.
