Resume Help: How to list family business?

  I'm currently trying to spice up my resume, but having some issues. I'm not sure how to reference my Dad's business. Its a side business....mostly replacing basement windows with glass block, but we do some interior finishing jobs, such as bars, showers, partition walls, and some ceramic tiling.
  
  I've been helping him since I was about 12, but I didn't get into the "business aspect" until about 5 years ago. Since then I've assisted with basically every part of the business except the accounting function. I've trained his other employees, bid on jobs, organized advertising (print, tv, radio), placed orders on material, and assisted with every type of installation/job.
  
  Now I'm trying to figure out how to list this on my resume. Its basically me and him running the show, so should I put "part-owner"? Or does that seem like too much? I'm not really sure on my title.
  
  My aim for jobs is pretty broad. I'd like to get into advertising, but sales would be ok if the opportunity was right.
  
  This is all I have so far...not sure how I'm going to lay it out.
  
  -Completed interior finish projects, including submitting bids, supervising operations, hiring and training labor, purchasing materials and handling customer relations

  Just a thought, but I would incorporate how many years the business has been successful.

  I would put part-owner, it sounds better, and when they ask you about it in an interview you can explain the true details of the situation. The goal of an interview is to get a resume, so always play up everything on the resume.

  Its been up and running since around '86. I'm just having issues with what to put under the bullets. I'm going with 5 max.
  
  As for the title I'm thinking manager or supervisor. Not sure yet.

  Unless you have invested money I probably wouldn't put part owner..... manager and supervisor sounds better

  i'd put employed by my father and put everything you had in the 1th post in bullet form.

  You may have answered your own question with... "since then I have assisted"...
  
  I would not put part-owner as mentioned above. I would think it was a reach... Try to emphasize the areas of the company you personally have been responsible for creating incremental income and furthering the success of your families business.
  
  I would also bullet the points featuring the type of job(s) you are seeking in particular... different skillsets for different positions, etc.
  
  Such as:
  My advertising programs have increase sales by x%
  
  My suprvisor/training skills have led to increased customer satisfaction, employee satisfaction, and increases employee retention
  
  Bidding jobs........
  
  Ordering supplies, materials......
  
  Hands on work experience in the field assuring quality standards etc.......
  
  List any things that you have done to improve the operation financially... most companies today are bottom line oriented.
  
  List anything that may differentiate your skillset... maybe you can golf, or bowl. These can be important for entertaining clients and representing the company in the community.

  1) Sounds like you described pretty well your duties, nothing wrong with them.
  
  2) If your Dad incorporated his business, just list the name of the incorporated entity and state that it was a family business (the reader will get the picture) in which you performed the work you did.

  VP of Operations is what you want to put.

  I thought you would have asked for the resume of the person interviewing you because you were already sure that you should have their job.
