Point? Do you feel you have a right to not be offended? -
LJno such thing as "rights" on a forum.

Agreed.LJ wrote: no such thing as "rights" on a forum.
I'm more referring in an overall sense.
It is annoying living in this country these days. People honestly feel like they have a right to not be offended.
Blacks are offended by everything
Whites are offended by whites saying offensive things
Indians are offended by redskins and other Indian names
What isn't the Catholic League offended about?
Christians are offended by Atheists and human skin
Rednecks are offended by people calling them rednecks
West Virginians are offended by West Virginian stereotypes
Parents of retards now want us to use the "r word"
The US has actually become the movie PCU. -

I have to agree with this statement.WeAreNC wrote: Hey . If you were following the rules. You would not have allowed this thread to start with. You would rather let the post stand, to have something to bitch about then just remove it.
How did you think this thread was going to turn out? -
GoChiefsAnd you're offended by people editing your posts.
-
WeAreNCFrom above. West Virginians are offended by West Virginian stereotypes
You mean like this??
What is foreplay in West Virginia? Knock Knock.. are you awake sis?
Whats the definition of a 12 year old virgin in West Viriginia? A girl who can out run her dad and beat up her brothers. -
bLuE_71I'm curious as to how we can edit some posts but leave others based on just whatever random idea pops in one of the mods heads. Be consistent in your ruling. This thread should have never been allowed to stay in the first place most people saw it as a train wreck.

trackandccrunnerGuys who date veterinarians are whipped .

mallymal614Shout out to the Mods for keeping this thread peaceful when it looked like it was about to get out of hand. When I saw the comment from the one poster, I was like "wtf? Here we go!" But now I see it been edited. Kudos!

I know it pisses you off, but there were complaints about it, so I thought that before more people got pissed, I would just get rid of it.eersandbeers wrote:eersandbeers wrote:WeAreNC wrote: Most blacks are on welfare or in jail..
Edited by wes_mantooth.***Derogatory racial remarks****
Obviously it was derogatory, it was a joke. Isn't that what a thread about stereotypes is supposed to be?
Quite sad you can't even go to the internet for racial humor anymore.
If you are going to be offended by words on a messageboard you probably shouldn't click on a thread about stereotypes.
I figured you were joking, but people these days get pissed about everything. -
september63This site has members from ages 15-70 I would guess. Whats funny or humorous to a 17 yr old, isnt funny to 60 yr olds. I personally thought the thread idea was a train wreck from the start. I posted this at 11:56 this morning. Is anyone really shocked about the direction this thread took?
-
wes_mantoothI thought about locking it right away, but we try to let as much go as possible. But as always, everyone has to push the limits....SMH

Fair enough, and understand. People complain about everything, yet they still click on a thread about stereotypes. -
jordo212000Does anybody find it ironic that the guy (Go chiefs) acting "holier than thou" and taking a stand against derogatory words told somebody to stop acting like a "ratard"?
-
skankHere's a stereotype for ya.
Dover people WILL NOT honor a contract if they think they will lose.
Well, I guess that's not so much a stereotype as much as it's....TRUE. -
skankI have a size problem....Too big.

Swamp FoxI think we are talking here about comparing absolute freedom with relative freedom. The reason we have stop signs isn't to limit our right to drive but rather, to limit the possibility of hurting or killing someone in an automobile accident, (or a bicycle or pedestrian accident). If you had the only car, we wouldn't need as many, if any stop signs. Since there are millions of cars, we need to give up some of our freedom to protect our fellow citizens' right to be safe from bad drivers. If you were the only person on earth, you could say and do and drive and whatever else, anyway you chose. Since you have millions of fellow citizens around you, you aren't at liberty to say derogatory things about them because there are many more ways to hurt someone than just physically. You can damage people emotionally, psychologically, and in many other ways also, and while stereotypes may not seem harmful to you, perhaps you need to be on the receiving end of those comments day after day after day, and I think that they would begin to annoy you. Perhaps even to the degree of seeking a legal remedy to correct the problem. I have told many ethnic jokes in my life and to be honest with you, I found some that were told to me humorous. I have also heard stereotypes, some included in this thread, that I used to consider funny. I have gotten away from that later in life. I think we need to stop at stop signs to try and not hurt our fellow citizens, whether the stop sign is an eight edged red sign at an intersection in your town, or a four letter or other insulting remark made to someone you don't even know.
