Cruisin'......
-
se-alumBack in my HS days the first thing you did on Friday & Saturday night was head to the local mall(Shawnee Square) and get in the cruise line. Most of the time you went there to find out where the big party was that night or to find something else to get into. Sometimes though, we would cruise till the car overheated. It was always a good way to meet people from other schools, especially girls!
So, did/does your hometown have a cruise route that everyone used to hit up?? -
power iBack roads.
-
se-alumI did plenty of backroadin' in my day, until we rolled a truck into a creek. That was the end of my backroadin' days!
-
THE4RINGZWe used to cruise every weekend as well. It was a fun harmless time. The cruising route used to be bumper to bumper vehicles for 20 plus blocks.
After a few years of that the city enacted an ordinance that if the cops saw you pass a certain point on the route more than two times in an hour you would recieve a ticket for loitering. That pretty much killed cruising. -
NateI remember when my older cousins talked about cruisin' at Shawnee Square. I was too young. My high school years it was hanging out in parking lots of like Burger King on Bridge St.
-
ManO'WarWe cruised up and down Sunset Blvd, which is the main vein of the Steubenville area. Occasionally we would cruise up to Pittsburgh, as that always led to some awesome adventures.

baseballstud24I remember getting stuck in a cruise line in Jackson one time...It was brutal!
Kids from my high school liked to cruise Court Street in Athens, but it wasn't as congested as Jackson. I did it a couple of times, but I usually found something else to get into. I like being uptown now and seeing the same car go by like 30 times in an hour. haha -

Belly35Cruising in the mid 60’s early 70’s in Canton
Start off at Eckard Dinner and Drive Inn on West Tuscarawas (Lincoln Way) Lincoln High School Area my turf.
Cruise up W. Tuscarawas to McDonalds, Perry, Central Cath. and Massillon High School area
Note: You could drag race between lights on W. Tuscarawas … good racing
Cusise back to Eckards then head to Burger Chef just a quick drive throw, catch 77 North to 30 Get off at Cleveland Ave. Oh! Baby the Cruising begins
First Stop ..Big Sis Drive Inn (open the Headers and chug, chug, chug) pull out of Big Sis and beside Big Sis was Big Boy Drive Throw …..over the first speed bump and pop the clutch if you have something to show and go. That was Lehman and McKinley, Timken and part of Glenwood area.
Backing into a spot order a coke and fries stay a little bit to see who out there and back out to the street Cleveland Ave head north to McDonald, North Canton and Glenwood School area.
Note: You could drag race between lights on Cleveland Ave … good racing
The best drag racing and serious matches was off of Fulton Road leading to 77 North on ramp. Winner takes the ramp up to 77 loser backs down and follows. Sometime the race when up the ramp side by side ….
Group could gather there to watch, perfect ¼ mile…

bLuE_71Cruisin on Chillicothe Street in downtown Portsmouth! YAY
-
DESCENTdmcI did the Chillicothe cruisin quite a few times, as well as greenfield. Shawnee square was big in the 90's, not so much from 2000 on. Shifted to the back lot of the bowling alley for a while then pretty much to various parking lots on bridge st(bk, lowes, hhgreg, goodys). we usually came to town got food made some laps and headed back to the country or to greenfield to do the same.

That's pretty much what we did. We had a big party spot on Concord Church road, so we'd head into the cruise, pick up some people, and head back out for a party.DESCENTdmc wrote: I did the Chillicothe cruisin quite a few times, as well as greenfield. gerb131Did a few times back in the day in Circleville but it was pretty stupid and a waste of time. Some nice cars and all but to meet in the McD's parking lot just wasn't my thing.

I've been cruising in Jackson one time. It was awkward, never felt so uncomfortable in a car. I felt bad for everyone who thought it was fun and the thing to do on a Friday night.baseballstud24 wrote: I remember getting stuck in a cruise line in Jackson one time...It was brutal!

fortfanMid 70's. I had a 72 Nova. Pretty hot car....
Friday night it was Celina, Saturday night Greenville. The best though was Sunday afternoons-the beach at the state park in St. Marys. Always hotties there back in the day. (I don't think anyone ever swims there now) -
Devils AdvocateI'm glad someone finally said Greenville. The lake cruses were always entertaining/
