Alice In Wonderland
-
ohiotiger33This movie, directed by Tim Burton, and starring Johnny Depp is coming out this week.
I have read Alice quite a few times, and am looking forward to this movie, despite the fact that Burton has created a new story based on the Alice In Wonderland/ Through the Looking Glass world. I can only imagine this movie will be stunning visually (especially with the 3D stuff now that seems to be all the rage).
It is also doing very well in early reviews, sitting at 79% on rotten tomatoes right now.
Anybody going to see this one? -
wes_mantoothI just can't get into Burton's movies. I think that if I dropped some acid, they would be a lot better.
-
ohiotiger33I agree usually, but Alice is a tripped out, messed up world, so it should be perfect for him.
-
stroupsI bet drug dealers can retire off the profit they are going to make when this movie comes out.
-
Fab1bI am looking forward to seeing it but I will wait a week or so, I hate packed theatres!!!!

ou1980Disney + Johnny Depp + Tim Burton = A winning combination
Note....Did you know Burton started out as an animation artist at Disney, working alongside John Lasseter (co-founded Pixar) and Pete Docter (Pixar and Disney animation director) -

Laley23Movie looks awesome. Will be visually amazing (Like Avatar) but with a better plot (although Burton could butcher it, imo)
-
charliehustle14Burton and Depp are both amazing. I wouldn't miss this movie for the world.

Trueblue23Burton, while a great director, is an epic douche bag.

Why do you say that? Based on his work and interviews I've seen of him, he seems like a pretty cool guy, though creepy at times.Trueblue23 wrote: Burton, while a great director, is an epic douche bag.
He seems like that dude back in high school who was always spending way too much time in the chemistry lab blowing shit up. It's just a cool insanity he has, IMO. -
trackandccrunnerI can't wait for this movie. Its going to be a great one.

Trueblue23Kevin Smith on Burton:

KnightXC1I will be checking it out for sure. Alice in Wonderland is a messed up story and place to begin with so it's right up Burton's alley.
-
Emmett Brownanyone know why this is not getting a wide release? It is only playing at about 5 theaters here in Columbus and Easton Imax is not one of them.
-
Laley23This is Burtons 12th movie he has directed since 1990. It is the 7th that Johnny Depp has starred in...lol.

ummmmm, okay; it definitely is a battle of the high school nerds all grown up...Trueblue23 wrote: Kevin Smith on Burton:

but I'm willing to bet that "Alice in Wonderland" does better business than "Cop-Out"...
...and that Tim Burton can fit into a regular-sized airplane seat in coach. -

It was rumored that theaters were trying to boycott this movie because Disney has announced it will force them to pull the movie earlier than normal.Emmett Brown wrote: anyone know why this is not getting a wide release? Disney knows there is going to be a HUGE dvd market for this movie, so they have decided to only keep it in theaters something like 12 or 13 weeks, where as the normal run for big movies is something more like 19 weeks (I could have those time frames wrong, but I thought thats what I remembered reading).
Now if this is the actual reason it's not opening everywhere I don't know, seems like a theater owner would rather have it for a short time versus not at all. -
cbus4lifeTim Burton should make it entertaining, to say the least.
I would have liked to see the director from Pan's Labyrinth take this on, would have been interesting... -
WebsurfinbirdI definitely want to see it. Depp is one of my favorites and Helena Bonham Carter (Burton's wife I believe) looks like she will be great in it as well. I don't recall ever seeing a Burton picture I didn't like.
