When the Winter Olympics return to the United States, what city should host?
-
ou1980I vote for Denver, Colorado....
This would be at least 2022, as only three cities are bidding for the 2018 games. Those being...
Annecy, France
Munich, Germany
PyeoungChang, South Korea
So here's to Denver for being the host in 2022, imo. -
supermanIf the Global warming trends continue....
I vote for Phoenix. -
Laley23Somewhere in NE America I wouldnt mind. Vermont maybe...
-
LJwhere is 2014?
-

Gobuckeyes1Denver makes perfect sense, but they already were awarded the 1976 games and ended up turning them down. I wonder if this would be held against them if they apply to host again...
-
skankMassillon....Seriously, Denver would be a good choice, especially since it's been over 20 years, and my hatred is waning.
-
ou19802014 is in Sochi, Russia to be exact....in what to used to be the old Soviet Union.
You know, the host city during the games ALWAYS advertise tourism on tv ads.....How the hell will Sochi, Russis do this?

Laley I agree when I saw the title of the thread Vermont was the first place I thought it would be cool for them to be at.Laley23 wrote: Somewhere in NE America I wouldnt mind. Vermont maybe... -
End of LineMy vote goes for Denver as well.

iclfan2My vote would be for it not to be in America. We just had it here. There are a ton of other countries to have it. I mean if no one else wants it then ok.

In 2022, it would have been 20 years since the last U.S. games, regardless of Winter/Summer games.iclfan2 wrote: My vote would be for it not to be in America. We just had it here. There are a ton of other countries to have it. I mean if no one else wants it then ok. -

Unlike summer, really only a select few countries have the capabilities:iclfan2 wrote: My vote would be for it not to be in America. We just had it here. There are a ton of other countries to have it. I mean if no one else wants it then ok.
Snow

Personally I'd love to see Lake Placid again. They've probably gotten too big for them but the nice thing about the Winter Games is it's usually in a more intimate atmosphere and smaller cities. -

It doesn't have to be a big city. Lake Placid has a population around 2,600 and I believe Vancouver is the biggest city to ever host a Winter Olympics with just under 600,000 (nearly 150,000 less than Columbus).Laley23 wrote:

agreed, and if you look at the US, only a few sites/regions can offer the alpine skiing conditions that would be a necessity for that portion...I mean, you can build a luge track, or skating rink virtually anywhere...but there are precious few venues that can host world cup downhill skiing. In other words, neither Boyne nor Bellefontaine will be in the running.Laley23 wrote:

Thats true, but the others are true. I also still think it has to be big enough city to host all the people. I know they have a history of smaller places and a big city isnt necessary, but I think we are trending towards more populated areas with a lot of places for people to stay.krambman wrote:
