Face it. Lacrosse sucks.UA5straightin2008 wrote: FALSE

way more scoring and way more hitting in lacrosse than soccer -
namod65I voted for soccer but baseball should be the list too.

stroupsBTW... I voted for bowling because I don't know how anybody could watch that on TV.

What is there not to understand about soccer? You kick the ball into a goal. There is no cherry picking. Only goalies can use their hands.I drain 3's wrote: I feel a lot of people that hate soccer hate it simply because they don't understand it. Sure they may not score much, but when they do it's usually because of a damn good play was made. The goals that are scored usually get the highlights and stuff, but it's the play that leads up to that that makes it exciting as well. -

I dont know if Id say way more hitting that soccer. Its a more physical sport by nature I guess, but people underestimate the physicality of soccer all the time.UA5straightin2008 wrote:

BTW, I dont think Lacrosse is tops on this list. I think Fishing, Bowling, Nascar, Golf (outside of weekends of Majors and big events) are painful to watch on TV. Lacrosse is just boring because, but it may also be because I NEVER have a rooting interest. I think that plays a huge role in how people view sports as well.
Soccer to me I love, but I am a coach and player of soccer so I appreciate every pass as it happens because of the way it sets up the scoring chances. I can see why it is boring because of the low scores, but I appreciate it as a player.
Tennis I think is the biggest outlier in this whole group. Every point matters (in theory, winning a point on someone's serve down 40-0 doesnt typically end up mattering). But tennis has quick points, big hitting, scoring, and incredible skill. I think tennis is one of the best TV sports....but again, I played extensively throughout my life. -

Hockey on TV for me is hard to watch, but if I am actually at a game it is very enjoyable. -
Cleveland BuckI'll watch the World Cup, so soccer can't be at the top of my list, but I would never be able to watch EPL or MLS. Every year I will find myself watching the finals of Wimbledon, so I guess tennis can't be at the top, but I never watch it any other time. I enjoy watching golf. I can't stand hockey. I couldn't tolerate even a minute of NASCAR or fishing. I guess my list would be:
NASCAR
Fishing
Hockey
Bowling
Lacrosse
Tennis
Soccer -

i know soccer can be very physical, but lacrosse is just as physical as hockey, especially indoor lacrosse..its comes with fights and all...you get beat up by sticks and you put people on their ass multiple times a gameLaley23 wrote:

stroupsI love watching European soccer but I think it gets a bad rap for all the flops and whining. If they made an effort to cut back on that then I think it would be much more enjoyable to watch.

I was thrilled when the ref gave Diego Milito the yellow card for diving vs Chelsea in the CL last week. We need more of that type of gusto from refs.stroups wrote: I love watching European soccer but I think it gets a bad rap for all the flops and whining. Eric TaylorAfter seeing Lacrosse on this list, I would say that would be on the top of the list (Didnt even know if was ever televised on any network in America)
-
UA5straightin2008final 4 and championship are on ESPN
many regular season games on ESPNU and CSTV -
atomica600Golf-The worst. I have golfed three times in my life. I'm turning the channel if I see golf is on.
Bowling-I'm not even sure I call this a sport. It is up there with Poker as far as hobbies that are televised on ESPN. Not watching it.
Fishing-See my above post on Bowling.
Lacrosse-Probably not going to watch this either. I didn't grow up watching it or playing it. No real interest for me.
Tennis-Boring, repetitive.
Baseball-Takes forever to play a game. Plus, I root for the Pirates.
On to sports that I will watch:
Soccer-Never used to like it, but the more I watch, the more I get it and like it. I'll watch the World Cup, and I don't mind watching MLS if there is nothing else on.
Hockey-The Olympic games are great. I really like the NHL too. I'll watch about any team play. -

For one, I doubt many understand the rules, the different formations, certain players responsibilities, certain plays such as corner kicks, free kicks, etc. I mean hell I could say the same thing you did for most other sports. Take hockey for example, you skate on ice and shoot a puck with a stick into a net. But for people that know and love the game, it's a lot more complex than that. People get to caught up in the scores of games. Instead of just waiting for someone to score, how about they take the time to appreciate all the little things that are done that lead up to that goal. -

Well thats my point, it is more physical by nature. It is allowed in the rules. But it amazes me that people think (not saying you) that soccer isnt physical because technically it is a "foul".UA5straightin2008 wrote:

I was watching the Arsenal vs Stoke City game yesterday. Two players went for the ball and this was the end result:
Granted its a rarity, and Lacrosse is more physical than soccer for sure...but soccer is one of the most grueling sports to play (along with Rugby, Lacrosse, Hockey, and Football) -
Eric TaylorAre you sure it's not on ESPN 8 The Ocho?
I kid, I kid.
Maybe I will check it out one day just to give it a chance. -
Al CaponeDont mind watching college basketball but the NBA is just god awful to watch.

UA5straightin2008you really should, but if you could make it to ohio state to catch a game in person, that would be even better!
i think we can all agree that any sport is better to watch in person than on t.v. -

Not the NFL. I would much prefer to watch on TV and have the replays and angles of TV. The atmosphere just isnt enough to overcome those TV advantages. A MNF/TNF is the exception to this however.UA5straightin2008 wrote: you really should, but if you could make it to ohio state to catch a game in person, that would be even better!
