Inside the Mind of Google

I don't really think this is political so I'll just post it here.

I saw this interesting piece on CNBC yesterday. It really went to show how Google, and probably any other search engine, really does own your life. From the Google phones, to your email, to our searches, Google can know everything about you.

Every single search you make is recorded by your IP or Google name and stored on Google's servers for 18 months. They also talked about how people reveal more to Google than they do to other people in their lives. And all of this is recorded. Under the rules of the Patriot Act, the government has the ability to get all of those search records without going through the normal subpoena process. After 18 months Google anonymizes those searches, but it can still be easily connected.

If you are concerned about privacy, I suggest people used Ixquick which is a completely private and secure search engine.

I knew there was a reason I didn't get that job I wanted at Google! :P

    I am half-joking, but half-serious too haha

I've been wondering what other search engines were available that weren't enhanced by google, Thanks.

Read a story where a guy was eventually convicted of murder, despite there being no significant evidence, but google had all his "how to" searches recorded and they got him with that info alone.

I don't want my searches saved, my whereabouts known by using a cell phone, OnStar, Mapquest, Garmin, IP addresses, WIFI connections or any other thing you can think of. Not because I am particularly interesting (I'm not) or have anything to hide, but because it's frickin' wrong. Period.

This is why I do not have a MySpace, Facebook or Twitter accounts. Although, I must admit, I do use Google. I will have to start using the search engine eers posted.
