THE4RINGZI am a history buff, but is anyone else watching World War Two in high def on The History Channel ? Pretty amazing footage.
I am a pretty tough guy but I am not sure I could not have done half the shit these guys had to do to win the war.
God bless those guys for protecting the future generations of the world. -
ytownfootballYes I've been catching a lot of it. It's curious to me how little WWII was covered in high school.

Glory Daysi saw a couple months ago i think it was when it first aired but i have been watching it this week too. it is definitely one of the most intense documentaries i have ever seen on WWII. i remember during the pearl harbor episode they played some of breaking news audio from radio stations that cut in during football games etc. it was hard not to get choked up listening to that.

majorsparkI am a history buff as well. Amazing footage. All veterans of our nations wars deserve due credit for their bravery in the line of fire. But I as anyone who studies the history of our nation wonders if I were in the same circumstance would I have been able stand as they did.
As I have examined all the wars our nation has engaged in the most difficult for me personally to participate in would have been the civil war. One difficulty would obviously be taking arms against my fellow countryman. The other would be the type of warfare of the day. I imagine myself marching in tight formation in open ground against an enemy established behind a stone wall. Hearing the rifles drop as their officer gives the command to aim and fire. Knowing that hundreds of musket balls are about to be volleyed in my direction. It would take everything in me not to run for the tall grass. -

It's not a curiosity thing at all; it's by design.ytownfootball wrote:It's curious to me how little WWII was covered in high school.
The historical revisionists and neo-socialists running our education system do not want our children to learn much about WWII. They'd rather spend time time teaching our kids about multiculturalism, the myth of global warming, the theory of evolution taught as fact, and proper application of government funded condoms in sex education classes. -
tontoI watched all of the episodes when they aired in November. Awesome series.
Believer... not sure where you went to school but I think we do an honorable job teaching history where I live. My father was a highly decorated WW2 veteran. His grandson and namesake is a government and economics teacher in SW Ohio. I am confident my son honors his grandfather everyday in his classroom.
