Fashion Question for Freehuddle Ladies or Fashionable Freehuddle Gents

Quick fashion question--can a navy blazer be worn with medium-gray pants?

I generally like to throw on a jacket before I leave my office for a mtg, so I keep a navy blazer on a hanger on the back of my door. When I'm wearing tan/olive pants, I don't see any issues with it. But what about a medium gray (not charcoal, not the super light gray)? Is it possible to wear a navy jacket over gray pants? I don't want to commit any fashion faux pas, so I'm turning to the Freehuddle for advice.

    Thanks in advance.

Perfectly fine, in fact Brooks Brothers models their blue blazers with grey pants in the store in my city. I actually think it looks better than a sharp navy sportscoat/tan slacks contrast, which reminds me too much of fraternity days.

    Yes.

Thanks. That's what I thought, but wanted to confirm before I went out and did anything crazy. To say that this place is not fashion-forward is a bit of an understatement. I've still yet to see any guy on my floor wear a shirt that isn't blue, white, or striped/checked blue and white.

I'm not a fan of bowties, but look at the fella in the middle in the first row:

I routinely wear that with a different shade of blue tie (regular).

That's a good look, and those are pretty much the exact shades I'm dealing with here.

I think there's an unwritten rule that only appellate guys can wear bowties. Or gay guys. Or old Republicans.

Yep. I wear the navy and gray combo to work all the time.

This ensemble works fine everywhere but in Wisconsin, the Dakotas and Minnesota.

Heh. When I moved from Chicago to Milwaukee, I noticed a definite change in fashion norms (and I'm not a particularly observant or fashionable guy). E.g., in Chicago, guys all wore earmuffs in the winter--probably half the guys I saw out on the streets had earmuffs on in the winter. Up here, I've yet to see a dude wearing earmuffs; I think the typical winter headgear of choice by the locals is either a Packers cap or a bright, hunter-orange ski mask. I also see a ton of navy/charcoal suits at the office, and an occasional tweed jacket for lunch, but very little else. Chicago is no NYC, but guys there would at least mix it up a bit.

    Do it.

Yup. Navy is as versatile as black.

Has nothing to do with your question, but I clicked the Brooks Bros link and laughed at the first guy wearing the bowtie...he has that "why the hell am I wearing this, just take the damn picture" look on his face haha
