I definitely agree. I don't mind the debates and often times heated discussions, as long as it's on topic and nothing is getting out of hand..

However, there are several posters who do nothing but try and either troll, bait other posters, or just trash an entire topic...

I don't know what people get out of that, honestly, but whatever floats their boat. I just jope they know that their actions have a greater impact on a site this small than it would on say, a place like RealCavsFans or even the OLD JJ Huddle, when everything was fine and dandy... Smaller communities make it harder to hide the horrendous posting, which in turn, can turn off current and newer posters...

It doesn't bother me, but I can definitely see why others are starting to become annoyed.

Yeah, it needs to stop. You'll see me get as fired up and combative about opinions as anyone on the CFB forum, where everyone is an analyst, but I like it because at least most of the time people stick to topics. Some of the serious buisness stuff is fun, but then you have too many threads like the 5 page "huddlers that annoy you most" thread that is basically a pissing contest and complete waste of space.

Language is debatable/arbitrary... that is something that you either grow a thicker skin to or just leave.

Personal attacks are another story. That stuff needs to stop. Grow up... if you have a problem with someone either use some tact in conveying it, or take it to PM.
  • Ender Wiggin
I agree fully. 2 topics were shut down due to the stuff, and even worse some of it was coming from a mod.

Makes ya kinda miss JJ huddle doesn't it? NAW

I enjoy the exchange of views as much as anyone, but I agree wholeheartedly with Darkon concerning the over-abundance of words that do nothing to strengthen the arguments, but rather illustrate that there are some who's vocabularies are so bankrupt that it seems the only method of communication they know. I have already mentioned the fact that I, like many others, occasionally use a word that isn't really necessary but it just blurts out. I don't do it if I possibly can avoid it, but they do, on occasion, slip out. I just think that we need to be a little more careful about the words we choose, because, at least for me, the credibility of a person's point of view can't help but be compromised by using language that detracts from your point.

    It's not "the place".

It's a certain group of posters that are incessant with that sort of behavior. Most are quite young and it shows. I think that once they can work their minds past the freedom of atmosphere, they'll settle their ravings and pack-behavior.

Someone once told me that you only use those swear words, because you can't think of something better to say.....that made an impression on me.

I rarely use such language. In fact movies like Step Brothers and Knocked Up would have been just as funny had they not forced the language in there.
  • wes_mantooth
Some these trolls need to just be ignored. If some of the name calling would just be ignored by the better posters, the posters that are starting trouble or baiting would hopefully just go away. Some of the good posters we have are being dragged down to the troll's levels. Pride and "one upping someone" is part of the problem as well.

The many will stick to their own clique and blame the few as it always has been but on this site the clique has been allowed to show their true colors with few rules in place to keep them from this. On the old huddle, before JJ sold it the rules were able to save the clique from acting as they do on here.

Sex and race do seem to dominate on this site. I would like to see a lot more discussion about sports. The only sports discussion we see on here is the whizzing match between the Kobe and Lebron lovers (notice I did not say NBA baskebtall fans). I would love to see more high school basketball and college baskebtall threads.

I would love to recruit in more posters for the high school basketball forum. High School bball is the reason I started reading JJ's site, years and years ago. We definitely don't have the traffic in there that I had hoped for.

They are merely words. I don't understand why they are offensive to people. I cuss all the time. I don't feel the need to type them in every post, but I'm a pretty vulgar person live in the flesh. I laugh at people who get so offended by a couple letters squished together.

Some of the stupid threads are fun.

This. How hard is it to read a dumb post, smh, then keep scrolling?

I'd rather have few rules with the ability to do as a please than have strict guidelines. It allows people to show who they are and who they are willing to be. Now, eventually the people who get out of hand need to be kicked to the curb.

Agree about the personal attacks, just takes the quality of the discussion down.

The swearing is whatever, if you can't handle it then that's too bad for you IMO. They're just words, and it isn't like they aren't words that you hear everywhere.
